That's the time between Piledriver and Back to Back! 11 years ago today I was recovering from 2 nights of the Frantic Four at the O2 Academy, Glasgow. First night stage front row, second night meet & greet, balcony front row.

Funny thing, time. And the perception of it. There's little doubt that age is a factor.
The comparison you make between the two 11-year periods is interesting because Piledriver to Back To Back - at the time - felt like an eternity. It's like waiting for Christmas as a kid. 12 months at a young age seemed endless.
Anyway, I digress. I was at the second night at the O2 (sis was at both) but I was, as they say, under the weather at the time so didn't really appreciate the reunion to the full. That O2 gig was the only one I managed despite having tickets for several more.
I know this will be sacrilege to some, but I actually enjoyed the Falkirk Stadium gig that summer more. Just circumstances I guess.

Well here's some controversy for you. I think the version of Caroline on Live is not as good as latter versions recorded since 1985. And EOTR at Selhurst Park was the worst Quo gig I ever attended by any version of the band.

Treading a thin line there mate Caroline, to my ears, was never beaten (before and after) than the version played at Dublin reunion '14 gig (on the Final Fling). A mixture perhaps of emotion, drive and heaviness that was missing for so long. Just think, if we all had kids during the first reunion tour they would be teenagers in a couple of years!!!

The sound bouncing of the stand across the pitch from the stage didn't help but the band weren't great. And the supporting line-up weren't great either. I remember Little Steven being 'bottled' off and Lynott wasn't great with Grand Slam (the second time I saw Lynott - the incarnation of Lizzy I saw was poor too - Snowy White - put me off for decades - really like them now). It felt like the band I loved going out with a whimper. They did come back with a bang because they had something to prove - Quo were always able to raise their game when it mattered (new line-up, on telly etc.)

This was very much a 'going through the motions' gig IMHO, but that Monsters Of Rock gig in 1982 was just horrible. At least the band were tight at Selhurst Park (perhaps in more ways than one).

It was a bit rough. I enjoyed it though. The rain added a certain je ne sais quo.
