My favourite track from the 1+9+8+2 album has to be She don't fool me. The only thing that's lacking is a guitar solo, but it's a great rockin' tune. Shame it stalled at number 36 in the charts, I felt it deserved to be a bigger hit. I remember buying the single, and cranking up my stereo, it blew me away as an impressional 13 year old, still does at 54. Any thoughts? Great cover too images.45cat.com/status-quo-she-dont-fool-me-1982-7.jpg

One of my favourite 80s Quo tracks , and one of the better ones off 1982 IMO Cheers

I always thought this as a bit of a nearly track. Nearly good but not quite
If it had been recorded without the 80's Quo bits such as the meeeiiiee bits , followed by the high pitched ( Andys keys ? ) link , I would really like it.
One of the better tracks from the album that unfortunately finished it for me...saved me from what was to come I suppose.

For me the only thing lacking was there was no guitar solo, it has everything else, great lyrics and chorus, chugs along like most Quo tracks.

Really like it, has a good vibe to it
I remember at the time thinking it wasn't upto the standard of most of the bands singles. Seems the public thought the same.

Hmm, it falls a bit flat for me and it did at the time. There's something not quite right about the sound of the 1+9+8+2 album and this track encapsulates it for me. It's all a bit dull. I'd already heard the song, of course, having bought the album and I thought it's release as a single was uninspired. I thought there were better candidates. Especially with an old track as the B-side. But, even then, stalling at 36 in the charts did surprise me a bit. That simply didn't happen ( Accident Prone being the only exception up to this point). But, I agree; the sleeve for the single was great. So there is that

I wouldn't say it falls flat, the only frustration for me was when I play it I'm waiting for a guitar solo, and even tried imagining incorporating one. A bit like how they added a guitar solo to Going down town tonight on the then new version, once I heard the new version I cant play the album version, it sounds flat, whereas the new version sounds punchier. Perhaps SDFM would have benefited from being re-recorded with a guitar solo, we can only dream 🎸😇

There wasn't the same dynamic, urgency or dark tones we had present in Take Me Away or Carol from the Never Too Late album, just smoother versions of SBYBIL. It's quite catchy, but for Quo, it just wasn't good enough.

Soundtracks to our lives eh?...
...this track, more than any others from the album, reminds me of driving to multiple Quo gigs at Hammersmith Odeon in 1982. Playing the new cassette in the car relentlessly!
Fairly sure that I heard from some source or other that Rick had minimal involvement in the making of the 1982 album.
It was a bit of a shock to me at the time that the track didn't trouble the single charts at all. Andy B stepped up somewhat with this album. The best bit for me is the 'Caroline-ish' solo 'Rick' rhythm guitar barre chord stuff at around the 2.30 mark in the video clip. Very short but very Quo! (easily pleased back then)
It was around this time that Francis was making sure that Andy B was getting due credit for his involvement.

Quite good, one of the better ones from the 1+9+8+2 album, but still it didn’t catch me. Many here has mentioned the lack of a guitar solo but Spud’s heavy pounding drum style is also soarley missed. Same thing with the Dear John single, good but totally lacking the usual energy and ”oumpff” so to say
