In numerous interviews, even before 2012, when the subject of Alan came up Francis often highlighted that they'd always got along well socially, but just couldn't work together anymore.
When they reconciled, they did seem to be genuinely getting along well , e.g. if you watch the footage of them wandering around where they grew up.... but then after working together things fell apart, a major factor (I believe) being Francis not wanting to pursue that lineup any further.
Lets put to once side the emotion and reasons for that decision; ultimately all four had the right to say "I don't want to do this", because we are all allowed to say "no". But sadly Alan didn't seem to respect that Francis had that choice it seems and hence the friendship broke down again.
Hypothetical: what if it had been Alan rather than Francis who didn't want to continue? Would Francis have respected that choice by Alan, or got the hump about it and ceased contact again?

Think Francis would have been fine. He doesn't like confrontation and I don't think he'd ever push working with anyone that didn't want to work with him.

If you look up 'Musical Differences' in the Oxford Dictionary*, there's no words, just a photo of Frame and Nuff.
*I know that's two words but it's just a joke, man.
