Not for me, straying in to "Happy, Clappy, Quo" territory on this one.

Lyrically profound, I always thought Have to admit, haven't heard it in a while and forgot how much I liked it. Actually, that's not strictly true. I knew I liked it. It's the On The Level album! The bloke next to me at the Apollo in 1975 shouted for this song all night. He was destined to be disappointed. Wonder if he still plays it

The track is 50 yrs old today and still one of my faves On The Level was released 49 years ago today. Although the tracks would have been recorded in'74, I presume that would have been fairly late in the year

I've always wondered on what day it was recorded, and was it an afternoon or maybe in the evening?

Of course, its damn fine. The album was Quo at a peak, that run of albums basically from '70-'76.
What To Do is made up of so many memorable parts - the jangly guitars, the boogie swagger in the beat, and real pop smarts in the melody.
It's easier to view in retrospect when a band hit a momentum that leads to a classic series of singles or albums. A primary reason a lot of us are here is because of what Quo did then, and they did it brilliantly. Ma Kelly's, The Dog albums defined a sound, but what came after perfected it. Tracks like What To Do seem so effortless - the pieces fit together so well, you forget sometimes it's real songwriting skill behind it.
On The Level is full of memorable guitars, melodies and grooves. Sounds as great today as at any time before.

The tune is great but I’ve never liked Rossi’s solos. They lack that melodic touch he was so good at. Just sounds like a load of notes with little feeling. 7/10
