I like Bob's version from In Quo Country.

No brainer 1977 for me. I still remember playing that album for the first time back then. It’s all been said about that album. But there was some saving graces on it and this was one of them for me.

Good question...1977's version is so over produced, when it could have been a real Quo classic (and a single to follow RAOTW?) with, shall we say, decent self production, but as we know, the Pip Williams 'cleaned up' production ruined the whole album (and most others he produced bar the 'Whatever You Want' album), the RTYD version is far better produced with the 'semi live' production of the album but is tainted by the excessive 'oh oh oh oh's' when if had been left to 'flow' more with just the Guitar intro (as in 1977's version) it would have been better received and perhaps done better in the charts? So 1977's version, with 1991's production would have nailed it for me

The 1977 version simply by virtue of the fact that it was the first one I heard and I really liked it.
The production added to the better sound of the remake, but didn't really augment it enough to make me prefer it. The extra "oh, oh, oh's" were presumably added for the proposed Perrier advert.
The John Eden remix is my go to version now. OK, more discernible piano, but I think it's the best rendition.

It's not just the backing vocals, there are also some horrible poppy keys on the 91 version. Both things ruin it, a shame as it has all the oomph the original didn't and is otherwise much better than the original

Jeff's drums always had that awful 80's gated effect on them bar his very last album UTI, hence why i'll go with the 77 version.

To be honest, I never really got this song, it's a skipper for me.
Any version.
