They ran this feature today.
"10 of history’s most irreplaceable guitars"
They had Prince:Symbol Neil Young: customised 1953 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop, AKA Old Black Jimmy Page: double-necked Gibson EDS-1275 BB King: Gibson L-30, AKA Lucille Joni Mitchell: 1956 Martin D-28 Bo Diddley: Gretsch G6138 Elizabeth Cotten: Martin Auditorium Orchestra #000-18 Willie Nelson: Martin N-20, AKA Trigger Kirk Hammett: Gibson 1979 Flying V Billy Gibbons: 1959 Gibson Les Paul, AKA Pearly Gates
Usual Guardian borrocks so I put this in their comments section.
"Rossi & Parfitt's Green and White Telecasters. How many were inspired by these two to learn three chords and create music, Quo are lot more than three chords by the way."
I also thought about a fire damaged Hendrix left handed Strat, surely the most iconic of all. Rory Gallaghers battered Strat, that funny looking thing Bryan Jones used to play, Townshends Les Paul and there are plenty more. The acid test is to look at a guitar and know straight away who it belongs/belonged too. I forgot Keith Richards plexiglass guitar. I certainly wasn't thinking about the good old never to be forgotten 1956 Martin D-28.

Peter Green's 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard, bought by this guy, and funnily enough, later by Kirk Hammett

And they seriously left off the 1958 Clifford Essex guitar The BBC always cut Val's shredding technique so as not to embarrass Hendrix,Clapton and the rest.

Yeah, but Kirk Hammett?? Really? I think the phrase I’m struggling to reach is something like ‘iconic, me arse’. Yep it’s probably that.👍

I'm rather taken aback that they missed out Peter Green's 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard, now known as "Greeny". Also, "Blackie" - Eric Clapton's Fender Stratocaster, which was so un-iconic that it set a record of $959,000 when sold at auction in 2004!

"and was cited as an influence by many stars, including Eric Clapton, Brian May, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John Lennon, Pete Townshend, Keith Richards, Sting, Hank Marvin, Robert Smith, Mike Oldfield, Mark Knopfler and Jimmy Page" The greatest influence and his influential guitar. Bert Weedon. And just behind him.

I got 26 likes on The Guardian comments and only one silly reply. The Super Yob got a mention as well.
