Always liked it but didn't discover it until a good bit after getting hold of the Dog and Ma Kelly albums while waiting on Hello! coming out.
It pitched up on the PYE compilation The Best of Status Quo which I bought just for this track. I've managed to get hold of the actual single since, which has the wonderful Good Thinking on the flip side.
I dare say it never got much airplay back in the day, which might explain why it never got near the charts. Down The Dustpipe was played on virtually every Radio 1 show back then. Maybe the playlist people thought this sounded too similar. Not to me, but it wouldn't surprise me.
