With the way that the music industry is now, both CD and vinyl are considered niche, so most releases are considered limited now.
Typically, I would guess there maybe 500-1, 000 of In Search of the Fourth Chord (vinyl) plus maybe a similar number of each of the CD editions. Much less for the DVD/CD and BD/CD combos. HMV and Amazon are going to stock them. That guarantees around 500 each I guess?

I think that if they were pressed in such low numbers, it would be advertised as such. Heck, look at the Blu-Ray Audio of the new Mark Knopfler album, which is limited to 2000 units (also, Paul of SDE said that 500 isn't really a feasible number for ventures like these), or earmusic's own limited Marillion live album reissues, which were limited to 5000 and numbered.
Although those releases at least have something unique to them, which those new Quo reissues sadly don't have.

It was just a guess (500-1,000 figure). It's just that Edel are making an existing product range available for UK / Ireland as existing licencing deals with Warner and Universal and Edsel have now lapsed and so most titles are out of print in the UK.
Many fans may already have the Edel releases and may only repurchase if there was a change (New digipak compared to original Jewel cases). If you add all the reissues up together that's £150 plus.
I've been collecting some of the SDE BD-Audio releases. Most are unique and highly collectable. I'm surprised Record Store Day hasn't picked up on BD-Audio. Then again, hopefully not, as the prices will rocket and some genuine collectors / fans may miss out.
The RSD vinyl prices have now become the norm. I wouldn't want the same happening to CD or BD-Audio. It was that not long ago that a *chart* CD was £9.99 and vinyl less than £20. The most recent Magnum CD was £15.99 in HMV. To be fair, Saxon was just £10.99. Saxon - Coloured vinyl was £27.99.

Hello everyone, new member alert! Quo signed to Edel/Ear Music in 2013. Fourth Chord licenced all recordings from this date to Edel for everywhere except UK/Ireland. I generally collect all UK/European releases, plus odd other ones (Japan and US). I checked the barcodes and catalogue numbers of the reissues, they directly match existing releases available on Edel/Ear Music in Europe. In the UK, Fourth Chord licenced recordings to ADA/Warner, Virgin/EMI/Universal etc. With Backbone and Best of the Noughties it was just Edel/Ear Music, so it just makes sense to standardise? I tend to agree that a standardisation is probably sensible - and convenient - from an internal business standpoint but from a fans' point of view, it is massively confusing. Possibly even misleading given the promotional aspect with these releases. I admire your approach 👍 but checking barcodes and catalogue numbers for 'new' releases is a task unlikely to be undertaken by your average fan. Me included. Although maybe going forward....

I just had a look through my collection, everything is catalogued in spreadsheets...
Studio albums:
DON'T STOP
Mercury/Universal (RM 2005) - UK/Europe 2006 Fourth Chord/Edsel (RM 2005) - UK only 2017 ~ Licence agreement probably now lapsed. Stocks exhausted. Ear Music Classics (RM 2005) - Europe 2021 ~ This is the version being (re) issued in the UK 2024.
UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Fourth Chord/Ear Music(RM 2011) - Europe 2011 Fourth Chord/Edsel (RM 2011) - UK only 2017 ~ Licence agreement probably now lapsed. Stocks exhausted. Ear Music Classics (RM 2011) - Europe 2021 ~ This is the version being (re) issued in the UK 2024.
THE PARTY AIN'T OVER YET
Fourth Chord/Edsel - UK only 2017 ~ Licence agreement probably now lapsed. Stocks exhausted. Ear Music Classics - Europe 2021 ~ This is the version being (re) issued in the UK 2024.
IN SEARCH OF THE FOURTH CHORD
Fourth Chord (ADA/Warner) - Original release UK only. Long deleted. Fourth Chord/Edel - Original Europe release. Long deleted. Shortly after, Edel started up Ear Music label. This is the version being (re) issued in the UK 2024. Fourth Chord/Edsel - UK only 2013 ~ Licence agreement probably now lapsed. Stocks exhausted.
QUID PRO QUO
Various version of CD and 2CD. For simplicity ...
Fourth Chord (ADA/Warner) - Original release UK only. Long deleted. Fourth Chord/Ear Music - Original Europe release. This is the version being (re) issued in the UK 2024. Fourth Chord/Edsel - UK only 2CD in 2013 ~ Licence agreement probably now lapsed. Stocks exhausted. Fourth Chord/Edsel - UK only CD in 2013 ~ Licence agreement probably now lapsed. Stocks exhausted.
BULA QUO
Fourth Chord (ADA/Warner) - Original release UK only. Now deleted. Fourth Chord/Ear Music - Original Europe release. This was reissued in 2014 in Europe. This is the version being (re) issued in the UK 2024.

Others/Live:
UK versions now deleted.
FRANTIC FOUR REUNION 2013
UK issue was Fourth Chord/Virgin/EMI (Universal) ~ Just a distribution deal in the UK. Europe issue was Fourth Chord/Ear Music. This is the version being (re) issued in the UK 2024.
FRANTIC FOUR'S FINAL FLING 2014
As above.
AQUOSTIC - STRIPPED BARE
As above except UK was Fourth Chord/Rhino (Warner Music distribution once again).
AQUOSTIC - LIVE AT THE ROUNDHOUSE
This was released on Fourth Chord/Ear Music worldwide. Not part of the reissue campaign as current (in theory) stock item?
AQUOSTIC II - THAT'S A FACT
UK issues on Fourth Chord/Universal (Distribution by Universal) Europe issues on Fourth Chord/Ear Music. This is the version being (re) issued in the UK 2024.
From here on in, everything has only been released on Fourth Chord/Ear Music.
I noted that QUO'ING IN - BEST OF THE NOUGHTIES just shows Ear Music and no mention of Fourth Chord or indeed Acklode. Maybe there will be a slight change to the credits regards this and have Ear Music purchased the rights?
Given the number of labels Quo have released stuff on, then it's much simpler to have the three era's on BMG (Pye), Universal (Vertigo/Phonogram/Mercury/UMTV/UMC/UMR/Polydor) and now Ear Music (generally the rest from 1996).

Was hoping the remaining 90s albums would get the deluxe treatment but seems copy and paste again. I don’t blame the band for it as they probably haven’t got much say on it.

Which is just one of the things I meant by 'misleading'. "... 100% approved by the band..." I mean, really? 'New' is probably the other But these 'new' ones are also being marketed as 'the official archive series', which sort of tells you up front it's all been out there before. So I mustn't grumble too much. It is pretty obvious. I do wonder what the vinyl colours will ultimately be. It was a selling point for Piledriver, 12 Gold Bars and On The Level in recent years. As niftynigel says, these releases will presumably be limited. It just doesn't say it in so many words. Incidentally, do we know why one In Search of the Fourth Chord release is £22.00 and the other £8.00? I also notice that neither have I Ain't Wasting My Time on them which, I imagine, will be them bringing the European release under the umbrella of the UK branch of things.

Yeah, leaving I Ain't Wasting My Time off is a really stupid move, especially since the 2013 Edsel reissue had both tracks (and the Edsel QPQ not only had the second disc, but also "Paper Plane" and "Softer Ride", which were originally only on the box set). Also, they should have used the Still In Search of the Fourth Chord double CD as a template. Failing that, reissue the ITAN 2010 CD, maybe? ITAN 2010 doesn't really fit that well on QPQ anyway - the box set didn't have it, for instance.
Also, ISOTFC deserves a remaster.
Thinking of it, perhaps the reason that they're not including the live tracks from Still In Search and the QPQ 2CD is because of the Archive series? But that still leaves a couple of unique bonus tracks from Bula Quo that they could've appended to disc 1 (Fiji LOAI and edit of RAOTW).
Ugh, it's all such a mess.

The reason for the cost disparity for In Search of the Fourth Chord is because there is CD version (HMV £6.99) and vinyl version (HMV £19.99).
To clarify, all of the (re)issues are what have been available across Europe since initial release dates, so in the case of ISOTFC, it contains the original European bonus track, One By One. None of the versions available across Europe, even the 2CD deluxe edition included the UK exclusive track, I Ain't Wasting My Time. It's all about rights. Edel never had the international rights to that track.
The Deluxe Edition, called Still In Search of the Fourth Chord, which was released by Edel in Europe in 2008, contained seven live tracks and an 'enhanced video'.
I think we were fortunate that Edsel released what they did in 2013. Unless there is a comprehensive latter years box set, many tracks will be consigned to history.
There were two Ear Music compilations, Die Grossten Erfolge, released in Europe, in 2011 and 2020. They were almost samplers, a combination of live and studio tracks from 1996 to Backbone! ITAN 2010 is one of a small number of tracks on both compilations.
If you think this is complex and a mess, think about the artists that have made exclusive tracks available:
UK only Europe edition Australian edition US - Walmart edition US - Target edition Japan iTunes
etc.

Sorry, did I say new releases? I meant to say re-issues... how silly. earMUSIC have announced re-issues of the following: 3rd Re-issue in 7 yearsDon't Stop (once again, using the 2006 Tim Turan remaster) Under The Influence The Party Ain't Over Yet (including 3 "exclusive" and "rare" live tracks that have definitely not been featured on several releases since 2006) In Search Of The Fourth Chord (CD and Vinyl) (This is a "new" album apparently) "earMUSIC proudly announces that it will release the new Status Quo album “In Search For The Fourth Chord” in the United Kingdom."Quid Pro Quo Bula Quo Frantic Four Reunion, Wembley 2013 (CD / DVD / Blu-Ray, although they can't get the setlist right in the description, as it's the 2014 setlist...) Frantic Four Reunion, Hammersmith 2013 Final Fling, Dublin (CD / DVD / Blu-Ray) statusquo.tmstor.esI think this has genuinely pushed so many Quo fans Over The Edge (see what I did there ), as I have seen nothing but negative remarks in-regards to this and I am all for it. They cannot continue to take the piss out of us, as Quo fans, by rehashing the same things over and over. Happy shopping to those that do buy them, but it's not for me. Don't Waste My Time.
