Shawbury Court, Lordship Lane, Peckham. I only found this out watching Rossi talking about how Caroline was composed. I pass it a lot, a mental shrine now.

Hey railroad007 , it's not Peckham, it's East Dulwich. And now I think about it, when I met Bob (Young) at the Barbican exhibition, this year, he mentioned that he and Francis lived in the same building. One upstairs, one down. And it must be the same place, if that's where they wrote Caroline.

It became Dull'wich after the yuppie explosion of the 80's before that it was always Lordship Lane Peckham, it's a bit like how Surrey Docks became Surrey Quays and Woolwich became North Greenwich. And I know you're twisting my tail. Can't stop, I've got to get a bus to The Rural Gateway via The Artisans Tavern (Old Kent Road via Bricklayers Arms)

And one of the buses went to East Dulwich, Goose Green. And our junior school went to swimming at lessons at the swimming baths at Goose Green. And I always thought it was East Dulwich back then. btw - I remember the yuppie explosion and resented it. We lost some good useful food shops for gift shops and the like. And a big supermarket opened in Peckham we went instead.

This is a fun historical site where I found this. 1826 East Dulwich Chapel built at the start of Lordship Lane, opposite Goose Green. Totally irrelevant but I found this fascinating detail - at top of screen grab - Samuel Matthews, The Dulwich Hermit, murdered in Dulwich Woods. www.southlondonguide.co.uk/eastdulwich/history.htm

Shame what happened to him. Had an argument with a Stackridge fan and it got out of hand

'I met that Sammy Matthews at one of my early Quo gigs.' We were supposed to join up and fight the war together but he bottled out when he found out that Napoleon was in charge of the other mob.

I used to live in Suferk so I should know! Then again it was at the East Dulwich tavern that I was presented the prestigious Mick McManus trophy by the man himself (150 quid and free drinks at the bar) for being top scorer for Western Union in the London & Kent Border League season 1984/85.
