Probably my all-time favourite Quo tune, always raises my spirits - really… always! Favourite version, probably ‘Piledriver’ or ‘Marquee ‘72 video or Live-Aid ‘85. It really is perfection.👍

Picking your favourite Quo track or album, as so many are on on a similar level, is rather like picking a favourite brother or sister or child etc. I often say though that if I was only able to listen to one Quo track for one last time ever, then I struggle to decide between Don't Waste My Time & Roll Over Lay Down. There are others I love just as much of course, but these two just give me all I need from a Quo tune really. Don't Waste My Time, I just love Rossi's lead breaks, talk about the postman being able to whistle your guitar solos, well this nails that. It's just so uplifting, it's a toe tapper, it's got a great groove & swagger, grit & balls, fantastic melody & the lyrics are fabulous too as far as I'm concerned. Don't Waste My Time, an absolute belter from Quo at the time that has stood the test of time, it's indeed timeless & why waste your time listening to anything else.

Piledriver was Quo's first album to chart and the first song on side one was the monster slab of guitar-driven heavy-duty shuffle that was DWMT. It must have been incredible to hear such a beast of a song for those lucky enough to have bought the album on its release, this month 51 years ago. And it was unlike any other track that would have been recorded at the time. Very few bands attempted shuffle tracks - and no one got even close to what Quo were doing. I would love to have been old enough to hear the album on its release. Needless to say it was still incredible to hear it even 4/5 years later. I also love that bit at 3.18 where all the hands start clapping in the air as Rick drives on with his pummelling rhythm. What an introduction to Quo's new sound.

As already said, no one else was doing this. Quo were almost unique, which is surprising when you consider that the style is hardly ground breaking. But, ironically, Quo were breaking ground by doing it, such was the pretentiousness of early to mid-70's rock. This wonderful slab of heavy shuffle nailed the band and their new style in one song. It has a swagger and a swing and it's been copied (mostly unsuccessfully) ever since by numerous wannabes. Top 5 in any Quo list of any significance (i.e., no, Rockin' is not no.1!). The break for Rick's 'solo' is genius in it's simplicity and pretty much announces to the world what Quo are going to be all about for the next few decades. Frankly, and this isn't overstating it, Don't Waste My Time changed this teenager's life forever. It was the opening track on an album that was like a religious conversion. It told me the sort of music I wanted to hear for the rest of my days. I think it's called an epiphany Or more likely it just had an immediate and long lasting effect on an impressionable teenager. Praise be!

Best way for me to describe the song is, it's like having your first pint, in your favourite bar at the weekend

Great track but one of those rare ones for me , where I prefer the studio version to it live. Same with Down Down.

Interesting.think I prefer the studio version of Down Down also ,there are few others such as What your Proposing which don’t quite sound the same live. Don’t Wast My time I always go to the live version first,a true Quo classic and top 3 of all time in my list.the Glasgow Apollo version being my favourite.
