You could hardly say Mick and Keef had successful solo careers. Which probably proves some sort of point. Keith not so much, but Mick had several solo hits. Quo's solo careers are a bit like Quo's US success. They didn't really give it enough attention to have a real chance. Like Francis wanting to do a country album with Bob in the 70s, and then not releasing the album he did with Bernie in the 80s. Surely they could've re-negotiated their deal in some way that would force the label to release those if they wanted any more Quo. Then maybe, like Genesis for a while, solo and band careers could've peacefully co-existed. But maybe promoting that extra stuff would've taken too much time and effort away from touring with Quo?

I think what Francis is doing now is just perfect for him. Getting around all the small theatres in the country meeting the fans. Apparently he puts everyone at ease and is very approachable. Having a good chinwag. What’s not to like. And it’s proving very successful. Superb reviews. I’ll see for myself next month.

All I would add though is that it's because of 50+ years of experience too. He was much more nervous about his solo work in 2010. Now, he's playing to all this strengths. I hope you enjoy his show when you see it next month.

Haven't seen it myself yet either, so I've been avoiding all the reviews and also the thread on here about it. We're off to see it in about a fortnight. Weather permitting. Again!

Show's how bored I am today. I've just had a vision of you telling the story of the travel to this gig and the alarms and excursions in the manner of Frazer from Dad's Army. "And there we were outside, trying to get in, trying to get in"

"And there we were outside, trying to get in, trying to get in" If we dinnae get there, we're aw doomed, ah tell ye As it is, my brother-in-law has just gone down with Covid after Rhino's gig on Saturday. Mrs Mortified has the beginnings of a "cold" so she's coming home from work to do a test. My sister is, as they say in these parts, bricking it. Neither she nor hubby have ever had it before and they both have the lung capacity of a small rodent after 40-odd years on the Embassy Regal King Size. Still, Rangers won at the weekend
