Riffs has just been certified silver in the UK. Released nearly 19 years ago it’s passed the sales threshold of 60,000 units. The rerelease must have given it the final push. Released originally at the similar time & now rereleased as a deluxe edition Heavy Traffic can’t be far of been certified gold, UK 100,000 units 👍 (Heavy Traffic originally went silver after 3 weeks)

30,000 Quo fans have now bought it twice And I include myself in that. But then that's precisely why these deluxe editions, remasters, or whatever are released in the first place. Vinyl might have pushed sales even further. Hard to tell I suppose.

I can be a bit of an anaorak at times - I love stuff like this !
Although a much shorter time period, Quid Pro Quo went silver about a year after it’s release.
It just shows how sales can trickle on .
It’s incredible how many all the compilations shift , even years on from their release dates .

The budget compilation albums do trickle along quite nicely. Most of The Essential collections are now certified UK gold (100k+) …By comparison the well promoted 1990 RAOTY compilation album sold 300k in 2 weeks & went onto sell close on 1 million copies in the UK alone.

There’s a mistake somewhere with QPQ
The certification is 2012 …..but the site is giving the release date as 2012 when it was of course released the previous year.
So, either one of those dates is wrong.
Or are they counting the release date from when the Tesco exclusivity ended ?
If I had to guess, I think there was a trickle of sales over the course of the year after it’s intial chart run.
I feel like Columbo here !😊

I cant believe it sold that many/Must have sold in bargain bins and the like at the time plus re-releases pushing sles on.
Im guessing that DOTH and MKGS must be platinum given the length of time and re-releases over 5 decades.

Apart from Mystery Island, i like the Bula Quo album.
Go Go Go was the Bond theme that never was.
Incredible that sales trickled on for this album.
On a similar theme, although released before the Bpi awards came into being, i find it hard to belive that Dog and Piledriver wouldn’t have achieved at least silver throughout the 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s

It was a top 5 album. I'd have thought it went silver pretty quickly. And I agree about Bula Quo. It's a much better album than the film deserves

Piledriver was released just before so it wasn’t certified. Originally awards were based on value sold in £ sterling. Piledriver would easily be UK gold (1973 UK £150,000). There is a worldwide award for Piledriver for 1 million sales.

The over 1 million worldwide is kind of meaningless as it will not say how many exactly it has sold.Pink Floyd's DSOTM probably has the same award.Platinum came in in 1981 with sales of 300,000 . But double triple platinum didnt come in until after like 1983/4.Very difficult to gauge Quo's album sales from the 70s as the priceless label also shifted a fair few records despite none re-entering the chart.DOTH and MKGS WILL PROBABLY BOTH BE PLATINUM BY NOW BUT BACKLOG SALES ARE ONLY COUNTED FROM 1994 ONWARDS.I can only assume that as BQ has sold 600000 in 10 years those 2 should have sold 300000 at least over the last 50.
