Far more separation in the harmonies and you can actually hear the bass drum.
And improvement. Not perfect but better

Leon and Rhino sound great, Andy's piano sounds more like he's hitting a pile of tin cans with a drumstick and Francis sounds as if he recorded his vocals through a megaphone at the other end of the corridor to the studio. Very strange combination of big improvements and utterly terrible.

Regarding Rossi’s voice I’m guessing they’re removing the bass to make it sound more like he did way back

I'm not hearing much difference in Francis' vocal but the vocal harmonies are more pronounced now. On the other hand, the guitars on the original mix have an almost physical presence and I'm not quite getting the same effect on the remix.

Really enjoyed that
Some of the annoying backing vocals are gone and the outro is very enjoyable
Looks like it's another physical product I will end up buying

It feels like the guitar solo sound is lots more prominent, up front and more ”raw” in this new mix - I like it a lot!

Don't know who did the remix
Whoever it was clearly read the album threads on here - take out the backing vocals and extend the end was a common comment

Eike O. Freese did a couple of Re-mixes for Backbone. He’s close connected to earMUSIC in Hamburg. He did lots of stuff for Deep Purple and was involved in Rick’s “Over and Out” Solo project. He liked Quo since his childhood - so remixing some tracks from Backbone was something really special for him. His Chameleon Studio in Hamburg is very well known in the business and he’s a really fantastic producer, mixer and musician.

He's a good enough mixer but no good for mastering. He makes every hard rock release sound like a metal one, horrible. The bonus live disc from Backbone is a good example. With better mastering it could've been the best sounding Quo live release since Pictures.

Do we know if Eike O. Freese also mastered them?
