The monotony for want of a better word is what I like about it. It just drives on relentlessly.

I wonder...
Is this one of the those songs Francis doesn't like?

If you break out just 10 seconds of the song, no matter which part, and judge it from that it's a really great song. Great vocals and instrumental delivery, not much to complain about. But this song lacks a direction and doesn't go anywhere. To monotonous as some already have said.
Some people makes fun of Quo and their three chord songs. This is only one chord throughout the song. Boring.

One of my favourite tracks on the album, & the album is my favourite post Live! album. I thought they'd really cracked it with this album, still Quo but clear influences of the post-punk power pop that was in the ascendency. Alas, twas not to be. Instead, we got the demise of a once great band.

The vocals and the guitar riff is coloring the chord in different ways but it's actually just a C5 through out the song. The cromatic movement is played in unison and are not really chords are they?

viza , take a look at this and click on chord sheet and advance chords. It's definitely not just C5 but I suppose it's a matter of how you look at it. I do see your point, but ... actually quite interesting this.. link

I love the dark sound of this one.
Good track.

Not always an easy thing to capture that atmosphere and the dark side in the various stages of the recording processes but John Eden worked some magic on this track in particular.
