Probably the most predictable song to post here but for me sums up what Quo is about. No frills rock n roll…

Many people think the lyrics have a sexual innuendo when in fact they just came up with the title as it sounded good and has no relevance to the verses at all really. It worked though..☺️☺️

One of the best. There is nothing quite like Down Down. Is there anything quite like Down Down?

And yet it's one we don't talk about, don't remember seeing a thread about it before other than where and when it was in the set etc
I bought a 2nd hand jukebox 7" for about 20p and was blown away. Was mesmerised by Nightride, I'd had no exposure to heavy music before.
Listening to DD on OTL is always a nice surprise because of the extra bits.
A one off and goes without saying a classic. Only surprise is that they never really tried to rewrite it.
For all the complaints about Mr and Mrs Smith, this tends to be the song that really gets the live crowd going

There are some songs where I can remember when I first heard them and this is one. John Peel's Radio 1 show, 10 o'clock at night but school in the morning. So I was only allowed to listen to the first half hour. First song played was Down Down, Quo's forthcoming new single. I knew it was coming out coz I read it in the music papers. I didn't know it was Quo at first because the prog just launched straight into it. No introduction. But it dawned fairly quickly. On very first listen, I wasn't sure. It was strangely stop/start and hard to get an immediate handle on. The rest is history of course. It's not my favourite track on the album, although the long version is a thing of great beauty. It's not even my favourite Quo single. And it didn't work live for a very long time. But there's no denying the genius of it. And the teenage pride I felt when it got to number 1. Which will be fast approaching 47 years ago to the day
