Those closing bars I used to think were 'borrowed' by Mud for the end of one of their no.1 singles. Might have been Rocket, not sure. I certainly remember drawing a comparison at the time. Probably just teenage angst So do you think Quo were influenced by glam rock singles bands? I've sometimes seen it said the other way ( I have no clue either way 😁) Nope. Other way round if anything. It was interesting as Quo became more popular how many 'glam' acts adopted the shuffle/blues riff or whatever you want to call it. Mud were certainly one I can think of and Tiger Feet is the prime example. Probably just coincidence and a sign of the times. Even more pop orientated groups like Marmalade had a go. I've always loved this little belter and remember it being reviewed as "a poor man's Status Quo" I still play it to this day.

Hmmm mortified. I think its as col says. I remember hearing Tiger Feet before I heard Down Down when it was no1. So I looked up the dates. TF was Jan '74 and Quo was no.1 Jan 75.

curiousgirl, I wasn't thinking about Down Down necessarily, just Quo in general. The point I suppose I was making was that Reason For Living - with it's slow blues ending - was 1973 and Rocket was 1974. I just remember comparing the two when I heard Mud's little jingle and thought to myself, I wonder where they got that from They probably weren't influenced at all; it's just my perception of how the glam thing moved forward after I'd got into Quo. Although even I'd admit that T. Rex were a bigger influence on loads of acts back then.

I'm beginning to feel vindicated Pip worked on S.A.H.B's Next. As an engineer I think. Something like that. Not sure he if he also worked on Framed. But these were their two, shall we say, rockier albums. With bluesy stuff dotted all over the place.

Not sure if that counts. Best live act outwith Quo I ever saw. Bar none. Pure theatre. Good as the albums are, they cannot even begin to do their live act justice. They were great fun! Delilah blew me away when I first saw it. It was before it was a hit single. Another one that Tony Blackburn took exception to

I forgot they had those earlier tracks but I do know them, honest.
