... Like the guy air guitaring up the front only knowing the first couple of lines of the lyrics. I'd struggle myself to be honest, but great Quo track. Maybe you should abandon the air guitaring and start air drumming?

Yet another perfect song from the first note to the end. Quo really did nail so many fantastic songs in their ‘golden era’ of the 70s. Such a pity the general public know them only for RAOTW or Whatever You Want. Yes, this hits on the head a big problem with Quo and being regarded a 'fan'. I know I bought in to Quo based on their Frantic Four era and I loved their light and shade (which they get little credit for) and supreme musicianship and arrangements. At the time many were following Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Yes, Pink Floyd (you get the drift) etc., etc, and I remember long discussions amongst my friends about these bands and how great musicians they were, about their great solos etc., (and how simplistic Quo were) and this bored me to tears. I had no time for these other bands at all. My music taste was quite diverse really and still is (inc folk, country, blues, classical, opera etc.,) and 70's Quo (up to 1976) I felt proudly were a great band and deservedly amongst other artists I liked. Quo then go and record Wild Side of Life and RAOTW just when punk was getting hold (and I did like much of what punk was doing in the much the same way I liked Quo, and later Oasis and others who had a spirit and sound also very similar). Gradually they became the band famous for RAOTW and Whatever You Want and for the drivel they released afterwards and virtually wiped out their 70's finesse and class, which left someone like myself feeling a bit disappointed and aggrieved. I did not choose this direction or like it, but by association it stuck with anyone who had liked the band. Now often at family gatherings, weddings etc., people will get in to a Quo stance at RAOTW and say to me 'go on there is your song'. This really embarrasses me. I DESPISE the song and all that it represents. The insult even happened when I was given a video of my life for a big birthday with RAOTW as the background music the whole way through. I switched it off after a few bars and have never watched it. I was so disappointed it was ruined by this song. Over and Done is however pure class!

Although I differ from you in the time period that I consider to be classic quo (70-81) this is one of your messages in which I can find a lot that I agree with. I came into quo much the same way as you did although at a later point (raotw, ifcsth) but discovered very fast after that what even better things there were before raotw. I defended it fiercely at that time and was dealing with the same sort of people into the bands you mentioned..hated the ciritisism quo got.. And what you write about the song RAOTW is something I couldn't agree with more. Back then when I heard it first it was one of my first times I ever heard them and it seemed good at the time...but I lost my appeal for that song very fast and now I really hate the song as well. I've seen those people at weddings and such you describe too and it's a pretty sad thing. Beides that the song has been played so overly often that it became boring to tears as well.

Quite like Over and Done. Never held it as great though, prefer a few others On The Level ahead of it. That said it's a very consistent album , so not that far behind.
