The last time an 'epic' track of this nature closed an album. And my own personal favourite track from Whatever You Want. When there's talk about light and shade on an album and all that malarkey, I just love it when there is light and shade throughout the one song. This one is a proper rollercoaster of changing tempo and mood; a heady mixture of power, drive and subtlety. And blissfully old fashioned in today's never-ending craving for instant for 3-minute recognition. If I consider Backbone to be a fairly straight road - which I do - this one song is a maze of turns and corners with an occasional rest stop to allow you to catch your breath. A thing of wonderous beauty to be held in the highest esteem. You can guess I rather like it

Yes, great song. Side 2 of WYW is excellent.
Power of Rock And Roll and Rocker's Rollin' (original) should have been produced like this one and they would have been classics too.

Yeah great tune from a, in my book, great album.
Has one of those things I love about Quo, when different sections of the song have different singers, really can lift and change the direction of a tune.
Also love the fact they are singing about, "old men in boys clothes, gone beyond a joke," back in 1979 ...

All the great albums have long last songs. I have no idea why they refuse to do this now. Real shame.

Anyone else writing this it would be a classic..but it's only Status Quo. One minor flaw is the build up to Four rockers rollin should have been totally wild, like The Mystery Song or Slowtrain (Came here in the morning..).

The song is a thing of beauty. Stands out as it's a melting pot of different musical ideas.
If all Quo songs were like this then it wouldn't be special but certainly some of the earlier Quo album tracks and arguably a few tracks from the JS and NTL era defied the laws of succinct stereo-type pop rock songs.
