One of those rough and quite thin sounding numbers from Ma Kelly that would have sounded brilliant live further on down the line. They tried it (briefly) as part of a medley a few years back but it didn't really work. Had they played it in full, I reckon it might still be in the set. Or at least in and out like, say, Softer Ride.

One of my all time favorites. Should definitely have been played live

What always interested me was how Roy Lynes also made that transition from pop and psychedelia to boogie woogie/blues/roots piano playing.
Compare some of the Spectres stuff where he's really at the fore with that sort of toy-town keyboard sound, then the psychedelic stuff where he blends a bit more with the addition of Rick's guitar, then something quite sophisticated like Are You Growing Tired Of My Love, then this.
Not a lot is ever said about his proficiency, but i guess they all cut their teeth on the live circuit playing more rootsy music, while the stuff they recorded was much less so, until 1970. So we don't really hear much of how they really sounded pre-Matchstick Men.
It's a shame in a way that Roy didn't last with them. He really fills out the sound nicely on this video of Spinning Wheel Blues, and is actually a really good bluesy keyboard player. Fitted right in with their 12-bar stuff.

Yep, brilliant - gritty Quo when [it, at least sounded like] only the music mattered

Francis also plays a little bit of it on the acoustic guitar during his talk tour. A great blues number

Always seemed quite similar to Junior's Wailing to me, not that that's a bad thing. I've seen JCQ perform it a couple of times & it really works well live.

Always liked this one but never on the same level as my classic list. So I suppose it's a good track on my next best list. So many of these would have been elevated if I'd heard a live version by the FF. Look forward to the day I see JCQ perform it, but not on this years set list. Maybe in Leeds 2022?
