Decided to create a new thread for this album, as I don't think eneough people would have seen it in the "What Are You Listening Now" one: Right, bought two cds and they are excellent. Best one (today) is Thunder's All the Right Noises A great return to form from a constantly underrated band. They are brilliant. Lyric-wise this one contains some serious stuff: brexit, populism and xenophobia all get tackled, but there is so much fun too. Track of the day: The Smoking Gun. Can't wait to see them live again, the last time was a bit of a downer as they forgot to really rock. IMPORTANT: their album consists of 2 cds: one with all the (great) official songs and the second with 4 extra songs, + live renditions of the new songs, leaving no suspicion they can deliver those tunes live (with beautiful backing vocals.) If you like hard rock, don't look any further: get it.

Oh go on then, I'll give it a whirl
Have a big soft spot for Thunder. I did check out the new single but didn't like it that much, so didn't bother with the album. I think the first two albums are great. I've probably got about half their stuff
I saw them a few days after the debut single came out, there were about 40 of us there. Brilliant gig. Never saw them again sadly. I know they supported Quo in Germany at some point, I would have loved to have seen that

Laughing on Judgement Day was such a strong album, Low Life in High Places was particularly good.

There was a thread on the other message board about this album and I had to hold my hand up and admit that Thunder had sort of passed me by. My sister always raved about them but I never got round to it. Too busy poncing about with other styles of music over the years. Then I watched an old "Top of the Pops" a few weeks ago and Thunder were on it playing a single called Back Street Symphony and I thought to myself, 'how did I miss this lot?'. Definitely my cup of tea in 1989 or whenever it was. So I checked 'em out and was pleasantly surprised. Quite a large back catalogue that I could wade through and I'm still doing that. This new album I've had a brief listen to and it sounds very good. As an aside, I did grab an album a few years ago by a band called The Union who, I'm told, had a connection to Thunder. Not sure what it was though. I was good an' all.

Princely sum of £2. Love walked in and Higher ground are great pop songs. They are a band that I quickly lost track on. To me it’s mostly meat n two veg pop blues. Always just on the wrong side of the tracks for me. Their albums tend to be just to bland and inter changeable. The Mrs however loves them. As a side note if I ever hear Dirty Love again live it will be too soon. Let’s hope it doesn’t go on and on and on live still.

This is going to sound faintly sexist, which is not my intention, but do they attract a higher female following than many other rock acts? My sister, your Mrs and a Quo fan I'm friendly with in Cardiff's wife loves 'em. I'm thinking along the lines of Whitsnake in the early 80's and Bon Jovi and even perhaps Alter Bridge. I'm not really sure what I'm trying to get at. It's just a perception I've picked up on along the way. Maybe even Quo nowadays compared to the 70's. Or am I talking bollox? I often do

I often do I think you are right. They are the type of band that attracts couples methinks. Of course there is that dying breed of ‘rock chicks’ which used to be at gigs. Who were only there because their boy friends were. Thankfully more and more women are empowered to attend because they love the music. Also bit like Quo, you get whole families attending.

Singer Danny used to look great with his long hair. They also write great ballads. No wonder their audience was a bit more mixed than say 'Napalm Death'. When I saw them live, they were too poppy, too many ballads, so to me they got the light/shade balance wrong. But all of them are great musicians, especially Morley. In reviews I often read comparisons to early Whitesnake, Bad company, et al. They can rock, they are definitely bluesy and their excellent singer is understandable. All points in their favour to me.

I don't know how I came to acquire Laughing On Judgement Day, but it's a tidy album. I subsequently heard the first album. which was ok but I wasn't inspired to acquire it & never really heard much else by them since. Are they perhaps a bit too generic, whatever that means??

Dennis, it is what almost everybody says, so I'm inclined to agree with them. But still, there are so many songs that tick all the boxes for me so I still believe that Thunder are something special. I would advise everybody to buy (acquire, download, copy, steal) their first 4 albums (or 1 and 2 if you're really strapped for cash) because they're great. There is a hilarious outtake on the 3rd or 4th where Danny becomes Ozzy on a cruise for the elderly, ... you can't but laugh. Anyway, I bought their latest two and although 2017's 'Wonder Days' was a great title track, the rest of the songs just didn't cut it. Their latest 'All the Right Noises' is a different animal: it is simply awesome. Give it a chance.

Listened to the new album last night, surprisingly good. Track 5, live before you die, is excellent
Yes a huge female following, and a few songs aimed at them overstep the line of decency, eg dirty love and everybody wants her
I'd say get the first two albums and download some later classics.
Download
Loser Wonder days I love you more than rock an roll Stand up Broken dream (rod cover) Gimme shelter - another good cover
I think they have their own sound, closer imo to early Rod Stewart than anything else. There's nods to zeppelin here and there, check until my dying day (great track)
They also have limitations, a one trick pony like Quo plus great soulful ballads that all sound the same
A really really good band. They probably have about a dozen songs I love and a dozen more I really like
