...died yesterday, 3rd May, from the effects of the coronavirus, aged 71. Hugely influential organist. Saw them play in Dublin last year. His stage persona and musical ability were outstanding. Wrote the melody to what became 'Golden Brown'. RIP

So sad. Just seen this too. And that was the first track I thought of. Love it. RIP

Just watching 'Golden Brown' again. It's such a fantastic piece of atmospheric music. They could have released it as an extended instrumental and played it on Radio 3 or any classical channel and no one would believe the authors were a punk band!!

On no that's sad news...I saw The Stranglers over here back in the day and they were great live and put out some cracking songs. My favourite was always Get A Grip On Yourself. This clip is a beauty as they play alongside members of Simple Minds, and Dave Greenfield is a highlight ...turn this one up eh.

I was lucky enough to catch The Stranglers in a wee club in Edinburgh in 1977, probably just as they were coming to the public's attention. Dave Greenfield WAS the sound of The Stranglers in many ways. RIP indeed
