This makes me sad. It should end up somewhere proper/decent....not just to the highest bidder. I really don't think he needs the money. It was good to see it on the wall of his studio during a recent interview (Classic Rock maybe?), I didn't expect that from Francis!

In terms of being sought after, Rossi probably isn't considered to be a guitar hero of the J Page/E Clapton variety etc.
Therefore you would imagine or hope that it would be purchased by a genuine fan of the band, with a few bob in the bank, who would be motivated to buy it and understand its legacy rather than for investment purposes.

And hopefully in the fine old tradition of this instrument, give it a coat of Cuprinol 5 Star to make sure it stays rot free for another year!

There are countless memories for way too many people in that very guitar. For me it’s priceless. Those sweaty Quo gigs in their heydays I can’t believe Francis would give it away if not for a high price to a worthy charity. Hope the highest bidder respects its history.

Geez - imagine the mayhem if the Red Special goes on the market.
Guitars are like investment properties. Buy them cheap, do some work to improve value, let time do the rest and sell for retirement.
It's "just" a guitar....

Was he playing it on down down at Hyde Park 2019? I think he's got 3. The main one, the Down Down one, and one he used for Whatever You Want until recently. The DD and WYW guitars have dark necks. But other people know more about them than me and will confirm if I'm right or not.

Duane Allman's early 60s Gibson SG, also used by Graham Nash, has recently sold at auction for $591,000. About £400,000?!

Yep... the one he used for Whatever You Want was given to Tony Rockett back in 2015 I think, and then he started to use a G&L before getting that Status Graphite (?) grey guitar he uses now. The Down Down tele originally had a sunburst finish along with a Bigsby Bridge setup which can be seen on a mimed performance of the song from 1975. The guitar he used to use for WYW once had a mini humbecker as the neck pickup. Funny thing is, he used the guitars the other way around in the late 70s / early 80s.
