The old green Tele is on display at Bonhams auction house and is apparently due to be auctioned in December. I'm just off to rob a bank...

What a f*cking idiot if he's genuinely flogging that. Should be in a museum. Some tit will get a hold of that and not look after it at all, and it won't ever be seen again

It's his property so he can do what he likes with it. Will be interesting to see what the reserve is and what the highest bid might be. Now he doesn't play it would it ever be seen again if he didn't sell it?

Now he doesn't play it would it ever be seen again if he didn't sell it?Probably not, but I'd rather it be with Rossi or in a museum somewhere than in the hands of someone that isn't willing to take care of it, or feels the need to play it themselves... He was silly for selling his beautifully carved Ovation Viper, which funnily enough wasn't looked either and the carving in the body was full of dirt and grime when it was last on eBay a few years back. Rick sold his Zemaitis, and that hasn't been seen since... his Ovation Viper was sold and the person that bought it repainted it... Some people out there dont give a f*ck about anything in regards to these things when they buy them, especially the historical side of it. Thankfully the person that has Ricks Schecter Tele and his brown Tele he used to use for Little Lady in the 70s and 80s still looks after them and posts to the Fender group on facebook.

I'd be surprised if it didn't end up in a glass case in a Hard Rock cafe somewhere... They can afford it, let's be honest!

Hafta say, I'm kinda with QI on this one - this deserves to be 'well tended' kinda like how Dónal looks after Rory's Strat. Like it or not this does have some historical-artifact value and actually does mean something beyond grubby money to many of us. I'd settle for it moving to a 'proper' museum or something - not holding my breath there tho'! Also, doesn't this reek of FR's [seemingly] endless quest for cash &/or his 'getting-up-the-nose-of-FF-fans' type of notoriety. My thoughts. For what they're worth. [Yeah, I know. F**k all really]

It needs looking after, like seriously looking after when you consider the fact that the bridge shifts and doesn't stay in place due to how weak the wood is these days due to the amount of changes its gone through... that's why it had to be retired. The problems must've become serious around the time of the 2nd reunion tour as he can be seen using a grey guitar similar to the green one that he uses as his main these days. Hopefully Ricks Tele and his Esquire are being looked after also

Well I never thought that David Gilmour would have sold his Black Strat but he did. It's supposedly with a guitar collector now so will be looked after. Would like to think that the Green Tele would go the same way. Though i'm wondering if this sells well will whoever now has the White Tele consider selling it as well.

Rossi will have some idea of its monetary value to collectors etc.
Though unless he has had some sort of epiphany in more recent times then I don't think he see his guitars as anything other than tools to do his job. In the same way as a builder might value a particular hammer!
Seem to remember him having that very discussion in past.
I only time I can remember him being remotely excited by his guitars had been when he had been given the G&L guitars.
