had hotel n tickets until my accident at work Oh no, what happened? Were you a wee bit unwell in your troosers again? nothing quite so simple unfortunately. i fell from the trailer bed whilst securing the load...landing square on my shoulder. mightily lucky not to have caused really serious head or back injuries tbh. however..been off work since 20th june...living the hi-life on SSP. hence having to cancel the london jolly on saturday which was gonna cost roughly 400 quid for two of us with train fares, hotel and gig tix. i am still waiting for a date for my shoulder operation to repair two torn tendons. i see the surgeon in two weeks. this will be almost 3 mnths since i fell. (it's taken that long to go through all the xrays, scans, appointments with specialists etc to get this far )..... god only knows how much longer he'll tell me i have to wait.

Get well soon mate. Where there's blame, there's a claim...has your employer got a written risk assessment in place for what you were doing? Have they reported it to the HSE as a RIDDOR incident, i.e. off work for more than 7 days? Both legal requirements.

Both legal requirements. safe to say.... my solicitor is working on it. until i get back to work tho..we dunno how large the losses are. as for what i was doing, it was on a customers site, and since my accident...new procedures and a total ban on working from height has been brought in. a controlled area system with proper gantry's has been provided for future requirements if a driver needs to access the trailer. also..my company have changed the "stowage of straps" instruction so the driver should not need to access the bed to reach the straps. all in my favour basically...should not be an issue proving liability.

Ah, ok. Get your solicitor to check on RIDDOR and whether this was submitted. www.hse.gov.uk/riddor/As for it being a customer site, it's your employer who is responsible for your safety wherever you're asked to work. I'm sure your solicitor is on the case, but if you want any advice regarding what your employer should have done, give me a nudge on Facebook.
