Afraid not. Purley is South London Hmmm. As a native South Londoner, I never thought of Croydon as being in London. And Francis used to say that his home was in Surrey. He called his studio ARSIS = a room somewhere in Surrey. However, from a quick look online, clearly the boundaries have changed.

With respect, none of us know the character of the man, we just think we do! Otherwise we wouldn't be regularly getting up in arms about things he does or says, would we? Getting suprised or disappointed about him means we've failed to understand, know, and therefore predict the man. ? This applies to Alan Lancaster also. Recent times give cause to suggest he is a vindictive little man, but is he? Wondered how long it would take to bring Alan in.?

Purley has been in South London longer than there has been a Status Quo. So he should rename his studio ARSISL.

Probably why most fans think he lives in Surrey. Croydon is a borough which for me is part of Greater London, not London proper. It was only incorporated into London in 1965 when the boundary was expanded to include parts of Essex, Kent, Surrey to the South plus other counties such as Middlesex from the North. On the rare time I went there in my teens it did feel very different to the areas I knew. Before 1965 that Croydon was a town in Surrey. And Purley is further out from Croydon but also got swallowed up in the new city boundary. Clearly the Purley locals would rather be in Surrey as I've found estate agent listings also calling it that also.

It doesn't matter that there are fans who think Francis Rossi lives in Surrey, I was simply correcting gentlemanjoe. But this highlighted that there are South Londoners (including fans on here) who do not know where they live or possibly do not want to admit or acknowledge they live in London! Francis Rossi as a South Londoner being one of them. Pretentious indeed.
Strangely enough, I would prefer to say I lived in London rather than say I lived in Croydon.

Still wasn’t the point of the debate though was it? Although an interesting deflection

Francis lives in Purley. Who cares if it's in London or Surrey? Here is an excerpt from town planning in Purley, from Wikipedia.
"In 2006, further change was on the cards as Tesco proposed to replace the store with a 6-storey building containing affordable flats above a new store. These expansion plans were subsequently shelved."
Incidentally, Francis once named local supermarkets as places he got recognised and went home in a huff when it happened too often. (I wonder how often he shops?)

This is just management finding ways of keeping Rossi busy, and of course the "cabbage " coming in.
The traditional routes of touring or recording are no longer viable after years of trashing the once great name of Status quo.

Maybe one time Francis was in Tescos and someone mentioned Frantic Four to him and he felt threatened by them as they were holding a baguette

Anyhoo, The point that the disappearing dog was desperately trying to divert us from was that Eossi is loaded and busy with other projects and wouldn’t even contemplate going on this Jungle show, so is there a consensus this is nonsense?

i had to google to find out what this tv show is and I have a new concept. If Francis is determined to go celeb camping how about the bookers just get people who don't like eachother to ensure sparks fly. As it's made in Oz the obvious one for Francis is Alan, I'd like to throw Ian Gillan and Ritchie Blackmore into the mix as another potential two.
