As being from Sweden I’ve always wondered what the GPO actually is? Is it the same thing as the american IRS/the taxman? Or is it some kind of ”code word” as ST’s in Mystery Song? Or what did Alan actually mean?

Hi Per
GPO stood for ‘General Post Office’
It was the state post and telephone operator in the UK prior to it all being spilt up in the 70’s/80’s.

The GPO were massive organisation and thousands must have worked for them. |
