Maybe I have lost the plot, but as I was driving home today, I heard the latest Foo's single La Dee Da on the radio. I've heard it a few times and like it and felt it had some sort of early Quo vibe about it, maybe something like the broodiness of Need Your Love...? So when it finished, I carried on humming the rhythm and put on the Ma Kelly cd, skipping through the tracks meaning to get to NYL, but when April Spring started, it seemed to fit with the La Dee Da rhythm! Am I mad or does anyone else see a similarity? Also at the end of ASS&W is the funny swirly synth(?) effect, replicated similarly on LDD! Wouldn't it be great if Dave and the boys are secret Quo fans and did it intentionally as a nod to the original FF! Could someone clever make a mash up for me?

I was watching the Foo Fighters on TV a few weeks ago (Jools Holland Celebration at the Royal Albert Hall) and thought some thing similar when they played this. It sounded familiar any way in some sense.
I also however thought in my mind that although some thing reminded me of Quo that the Foo Fighters were amazing and leagues above and could not be compared to Rossi's tragic act over the last 30+ years.
Although I don't listen to the Foo Fighters at all they came across as a proper class rock act and not a light weight pantomime novelty weak imitation like Quo became

At the Jools concert they also played a song 'The Sky is a neighbourhood' which in my opinion showed real class as an act:

Hi vivfromcov , Watched the Foo Fighters live last night in Sydney and they were great. They performed La Dee Da, & it sounded great, it sounds like a current Quo song to me called 'Driving To Glory'.
I was a tad disappointed with the sound, couldn't hear Chris Shiflett's guitar playing very well in the mix. Espically during the song's Let It Die & Alice Cooper's Under My Wheels. But still a great night & the support band Weezer were good too.

Not at the same level of the classic Quo era songs but better than some other CQ tracks. Glad you enjoyed the Foo Fighters concert, I did too when I saw them.

unspokenwords Thanks, I'm glad someone else saw a similarity! I'm not saying it's a copy or anything, just that it reminded me of early Quo and I love that. I also like The Sky Is A Neibourhood. I think I might listen to a few more songs from their new album and maybe buy it!
