In the 70s he was great especially before he became a household name. He connects with his audience. Makes people laugh. However the best... probably not. He wasn't just bantery. He could relate himself to the audience and the audience to him and to each other. It was way better than "Put your f***ing hands in the air" which is the limit of many bands' conversation these days.
