One of the funniest things I ever saw was Jon Lord in a TV interview doing an impression of Ritchie sitting watching everyone like a small rodent or vulture (I forget which). Sadly I seem not to have kept the video, as I never saw it again. I think it was the Rock Family Trees episode. He says "I imagine him on a perch you know like peering". Have a look here around 14:30.

I found this short video with Ronnie James Dio, where he discusses Ritchie Blackmore, are fascinating and he certainly doesn't hold back. His comments about Tony (@bluehighway ) towards the end of this video certainly back up Tony's feelings on Ritchie. This second video shows a glimpse of Ronnie's sharp wit and I had a laugh as he breezes through a few of Rainbow's releases where Ritchie wanted to be front and centre. I never doubted you, Tony. The guy is a bastard. Although it must feel great to have Ronnie Dio call you "a great keyboard player". Respect, my man. I didn't realise that's who Blue was, I got that he had worked with them all in the past. I concur with you Davy "a great keyboard player indeed". Rising is my favorite Rainbow album because of the whole group effort. Even my daughter who is now more into teenage pop music still digs Stargazer.

Anyone who can come up with the intro to "Tarot Woman" is awright with me. Ronnie knew what he was talking about. Indeed when you look at the revolving door of musicians that Blackmore has worked with I have always regarded Tony's work as a very close 2nd to the late great Jon Lord.

Thanks for all the comments and I agree Jon Lord was a supreme talent, I was in total awe the first time we met in the 70s but regard myself as truly lucky that we went on to be great friends and played together on many occasions. As for Ritchie with a "t" I guess he's gone back to his lute.

Age Sten Nilsen is extraordinary, his work with Wig Wam and solo is fantastic. I'm sure you Brits loving Eurovision as you do will remember them representing Norway in 2005.

To Bluehighway.
When performing at a professional level in a large venue (as opposed to a pub!) How loud is it on stage?
I've been to some concerts where it was literally deafening (Page Plant Glasgow 1995🔊🎛🎤🎸) Do you have hearing problems now?
Cheers.

The very one! More like a cross parrot than a vulture ... with a big beak. I had a feeling that Rock Family Trees were involved somewhere, great programmes, I must watch that one again. The Purple guys are always good in documentaries too.
