Ah, I can understand that. If you've read the books you might want the tv story to be the same, but I gather there have been some changes. Maybe I'll catch up with the books afterwards. The series has now gone beyond the books. Oh, thanks, I get what Charles means now. I read that George Martin has written more but thought it meant for the spin off series...

I think the whole title/concept is a missed opportunity for the early-evening trash-TV addict masses... - why hasn't someone "in TV" ( sitting at a glass table with Deidre/Buggles-style coloured glasses, a ponytail, stripey shirt etc "brainstorming" with his middle-class tofu eating media studies chums ) used the idea for a game-show? ……”Game of Thrones” - where the contestants all sit on Armitage-Shanks toilet bowls as they answer questions... ….and the presenter can use catchphrases like "doing the business", "on a roll"… ..and they have theme rounds called "punishing the porcelain", "number twos", “running flush” and “release the hostage”…… It’s a winner!!....

I was going to start watching this series but it's not on Netflix. HBO refuses to offer anything on Netflix, as they are a main competitor.

Hi All, I was under the assumption season 7 with only six episodes, was the last looks like I was wrong there are 7 episodes and S.8. will be the last as already posted by vivfromcov they want to finish in style so the six episodes are allegedly approx. 80mins each from another older article
There is also a movie planned and possibly a spin off series in the pipeline, which is a different time/story line it's just that they have not said anything concrete yet as well as that they are considering 2019 as an air date also not set in stone so anything is possible I suppose.
This below from an article in the Independent from 27/07 :-www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/game-of-thrones-season-8-final-release-date-hbo-episode-count-length-a7863421.html "With season 7's finale set to weigh in at 82 minutes, Bloys was asked about run times for season 8." "I imagine they’ll be longer but … I’m not sure [how long]," he said. "We haven’t had that discussion yet because I don’t know how long the episodes are going to be. Two hours per episode seems like it would be excessive, but it’s a great show, so who knows?"
I was also under the impression that from start to finish 'George Martin's' role has been only as an adviser with the series following certain event timelines with artistic licence which 'GM' was fine with so long as they didn't stray to far from the books. On the subject of the books last I read was 'GM' still had not finished the final book ?

There are still two books in the pipeline: The Winds of Winter (book 6) and A Dream Of Spring (7th and final book). He writes really slowly, WOW should be released in 2018, but Martin never predicts anymore as all his deadlines were never met. He gave the general outline of the story to the (very talented) writers of the television series, so the ending and the main story lines will be the same. But they are completely free to alter and/or abbreviate the story (which they thankfully did). I still think the books are better, but I can appreciate the adaptation as well.

Hi All, charles I thought I was going mad when you posted about the sixth and seventh book I new he was writing another which I thought was the eighth, so I just checked my set and two of the set are doubles so it looks like I am in for a treat when I finally get around to reading them......

I actually think that series is the best thing I have ever read. And this comes from a Tolkien lover. Anyway, don't get stuck in too fast as he is a really slow writer. Book 1 I read around 2000, it was a fluke as my wife nr 1 stumbled upon it. I was immediately hooked. Book 2 and 3 came relatively quick, so I was anxiously waiting for the rest. Then it took about 5 years for the next. And even more for the next. So I was about 33 when I started the journey, I'll be happy when I end the saga at 60!

Hi All, I watched Ep.5 last night don't know what happened to it seems that 'Bron and J.Lannister' are magnifiscent swimmers judging by the opening scene.. A very subdued episode compared to 4 and the A-10's with legs but still passed quite fast so all in all still on track.
I suppose it slowed down due to last weeks supersonic viewing, giving all the fans a chance to catch their breath unlike the 'Tarlys' who decided to have a father and son barbecue instead.....
