How could I vote for Ease Your Mind. It's a killer! I will think about it and maybe will change my mind, kicking out Rolling home.

Ease Your Mind is one of the all time great apologetic love songs.I've never listened to Mystery Song without this brilliant song prefacing it.The solo is brilliantly restrained, the last verse harmonies are superb and Status Quo bounce merrily along as a band.I can't think of any other song they ever did that sounds like this. The whole album is the peak of this bands studio creativity. It shows everything they can do culminating in the part after the solo in Mystery Song. The play out at the end is such a contrast that the brilliance of the band is hidden by the cleverness of it all.

I don't think they did a song that was less than any others from Piledriver through to Blue For You.All these polls highlight is the fact that not one song from 1979 onwards, and I include Hold You Back, would have made onto the glory albums. When I listen to these albums they make sense and are not a collection of songs filling in space.

People keep on whining about how hard these polls are, some even refusing to pick three and in doing so defeating their purpose. So let's jazz things up a bit so people won't feel like traitors any more. Start with the thread title: Blue For You, the ultimate 6. Continue this process for all the albums (except for the wilderness years, they are beyond salvation) and the end result will be the same: a list of slightly wonky, least best, etcetera songs. People would still moan about how hard these polls are, but would make their choice in the end.
You're welcome.

Shame to dilute it with the weaker albums

Shame to dilute it with the weaker albums They had a pretty good run of albums at the top though from 1970-1976. 7 fantastic studio albums and a great Live one. Not many long term bands have such a great run. Deep Purple had 3 from MK 2 and 1 from MK 3 that could be considered classics. Queen had 5 classics. Sabbath, 4 Led Zep, 5 The Stones really only had a run of 4 truly great albums.

Can't choose! Ease Your Mind would seem the weakest but it's still above-average for me. I love the entire album.

Kingy: Is it true, other king, that you have 250 wives, each more beautiful than the last?" Other King: "Only if you line them up that way."

Help right through to Abbey Road? ie 6 albums? oh - actually - I forgot Yellow Submarine. Maybe it is only 5 from Help to The White Album? Hey! Where's With the Beatles, A Hard Day's Night and Beatles for Sale? All the best stuff is on those!

Hey! Where's With the Beatles, A Hard Day's Night and Beatles for Sale? All the best stuff is on those! The first two yes, they are superb, but BFS was relatively poor don't you think? A fillers album they had to shove out quick after all the time spent on AHDN filming and recording? Beatles For Sale was a landmark recording. This is the album where, knackered as they were, the Beatles started the transition from what they had been to what they were going to be. Yes, there were less original compositions on it [only 8!] but they did also release I Feel Fine / She's A Woman from the same sessions. I find it hard not to see each release by the Beatles as a classic, even the compiled Magical Mystery Tour, with the exception of Let It Be [Yellow Submarine soundtrack not really being a Beatles album at all - half of it was previously released & half consisted of George Martin's orchestrations for the film].

I agree with ROCKONQUO, yet the only track I do skip (sorry Alan ) is BFY.
For OTL I skip Where I Am.
Catlady, in 1978 in Sydney they opened with ITABW, they substituted the lead guitar part with Andy's keyboards which was disappointing for a 17yr old SLOWTRAIN.
If I had to choose 3 songs for the sake of the exercise, they would be 3 songs that I like. Very tough choice.
1. BFY 2. EYM 3. MATB

Kursaal, I've always thought TAF to be one of their more intelligent and adventurous tracks, it's a song I'm proud to play to the detractors.

I was at the Saturday Quo gig at The Hordern Pav back in 1978 and wondering how the f... do you remember the song they opened with AND that Andy filled in on the lead? All I remember was that the gig was insanely brilliant and it went far to quick.
