I can't believe the votes BBJ has got!
There must be some musical snobs on here because it's a proper rock n roll song played full belt in the unmistakable Quo style.
Everyone in the group is contributing 100%, from the heavy drums, the thumping bass, the raw thunderous rhythm, fantastic electric solos and the gritty powerful vocals. To me and many of my old Quo faithful friends from my youth, this was what Quo were about. Not the polished stuff that followed (and quite a bit from OTL was polished too) but a raucous yet melodic, hard rock that Quo were famous for on the previous LP's.
So what if it was a cover? We didn't. Written by the god of RnR himself. This was hard, this was sweaty, this was pure. This was out-Ramoning the Ramones. Pure rock... Proto-punk even.
No wonder Quo deviated from great output like this to weak highly polished pop if that's what some "fans" wanted.

They had been doing it live for about 5 years at that point so was there a need to do a studio version? It's a fine version no doubt but for me the other original tracks are in the main better.

I listened to the album today for the first time in a while. It was fabulous of course but I was pleased to confirm my two least favourite were the same as my initial thoughts. As for the 3rd... still a problem. I knew it could not be LL MOTT ISTL or DD but the other 4 are still great and I especially love BBJ as it is on fire, fire, fire, fire Academic anyway. The votes cast are pretty conclusive so I won't bother voting for my 3rd.

Found this much easier to do than the other votes. For me, OTL just isn't as strong as its predecessors. Broken Man, Where I am and BBJ got my votes.

I chose Nightride as I never really got this song and Where I am - couldn't decide on a third one as this is one of my favourite Quo albums. Just couldn't vote for anything else.

I chose BBJ simply because of the karaoke it became, certainly not what it once was. This theme applies through other album choices such as the successor album to this where I chose both ITABW and Rain. Both of which suffered through over exposure and loss of credibility the way they ended up performed as part of never changing set.
But the FF did full justice to BBJ back in the day. It was a huge Quo trademark and an amplified testimony to Chuck Berry (RIP) himself.

Til so far I voted for these 9 tracks as least best:
Daughter Need Your Love Lazy Poker Blues Gerdundela Railroad Nanana Unspoken Words All The Reasons Roadhouse Blues
But if this was a Quo album, it was one of their best ever. What a poll this is.
The next three FF albums I voted for this nine tracks as being least best.
Claudie A Reason For Living And It's Better Now Break The Rules Don't Think It Matters Fine Fine Fine Nightride Where I Am Bye Bye Johnny
Another fantastic album as least best.

I've never really liked I Saw The Light or What To Do actually. A bit too formulaic for me.
Yeh I'm a loony.

Outrageous! Nightride is one of the BEST tracks on that album.
It's got a groove, man!
