Ah this is another bastard one - I'll struggle with this as much as I did with Piledriver!

I have to disagree with GATESHEADBANGER, I think that Drifting Away is one of the best songs ever recorded by QUO. Everything about the song is brilliant and awesome. I think that all band members collapsed in a collective heap at the end of the recording. FFS it's tight, punchy and ballsy. "My,my friends got a broken nose and I've got a broken jaw". Great lyrics. Plus if you had any idea of what it requires to perform that song physically then you'd have more respect for it. Plus, what a great outro.
Of course, I think SLOW TRAIN is the best song on 'QUO' 'Wrote a rockin' song gonna sing it at the station, finish all the words when I reach my destination'
I'm getting a sneaking suspicion that a lot of QUO 'supporters' don't have a very good understanding of the band.

No it's too difficult to pick 3. Difficult to pick even 1. But if one song had to go, I think i'd pick break the rules.

Not up to you to judge anyone's "understanding" of the band because they happen to disagree with you on certain tracks. You like Drifting away and think it's one of their best songs. Fine. Other's, amongst which myself, don't. It's as simple as that. I have been a fan of this band for over 38 years and think I understand the band a heck of a lot better then you seem to think some people do. But if I don't like a song, I don't like it, it's really that simple and has nothin what so ever to do with having an "understanding" for the band and has nothing to do with disrespect either. To me it's a mystery why Don't think it matters gets so many votes cos that is one of the top songs according to me. But I don't tell others who have different opinions that they don't understand the band.

Just Take Me and Drifting Away and.... Just the two It was interesting that these two songs were the ones my American hosts from the south liked least when I was over there. See anecdote of the other day
So I thought it was a useful basis for my choice - especially on the basis of the context of the thread. I thought of choosing BTR after the awful lazy way its sung by Francis and generally camped up on AQ1, but its cool in its original form and was a big favourite out west so I desisted

I'm getting a sneaking suspicion that a lot of QUO 'supporters' don't have a very good understanding of the band. Following that lot, I've a sneaking suspicion you will have no supporters at all
The context of the thread is critical choice relative to the overall popularity of the album. Which doesn't inevitably equate by any means to dislike. But I suspect you know that already...

I can't vote for the opening or closing pair of songs - arguably the strongest opening & closing pairings on any Quo album. I've always been partial to the single & feel it's honky-tonk touches should have cropped up a little more often in the Quo discography. By default that leaves Drifting Away, Don't Think It Matters & Fine Fine Fine - but they're all great tracks too I may change my mind later!

... in the spirit of the vote , although with this and the next one , I am just splitting hairs in terms of preference , I have gone for Fine Fine Fine - although it is the albums ying to the yang , Drifting Away and Don't Think It Matters. The latter could , could ,possibly maybe do with being cut down in length rather than kick back in and Drifting Away - well it just shows the strength of the rest . Too much excellent stuff on the album to really vote for any ....but ........I was only following orders ......

Yes, but on the other hand, there will be those who think these things but don't write them down in forums! Meaning ? That his reaction was honest or something ? So was mine No offence intended, just meant as a light hearted comment on the nature of internet forums. There's probably a lot of people unaccounted for who are perhaps put off by heated debate, so who knows where they stand. Although for obvious reasons, this place has been pretty harmonious for quite a while.

Thanks for your answer Btw, never had the impression your post was meant offensive, if I gave that impression in my answer I apologize
