1982 was the last ever album I bought ,also weirdly from what ive heard from bula I kind of like the tracks . The rest ive never had or want any interest in . Was it the fact that it reached no. 1 that made you decide not to make that mistake again?! Didn't have a clue what position it went Dennis , but the few tracks I heard through you tube had a hint of chuggie/boogie vibe that I loved about the real band . I DIDN'T BUY IT ! .

I think we're at cross purposes here. What I meant was: "Was it the fact that 1982 reached no. 1 that made you decide not to make that mistake again [buying any subsequent releases] ?!"

RTYD, UTI, HT, ISOTFC & QPQ ARE ALBUMS I CAN LISTEN TO. The others there's only a few songs on each album what are good imo.

Favourite Quo Album: On The Level

The six i chose were: ITAN, AC, RTYD, TW, UTI and HT.
I grew up listening to these albums so find it hard to dislike most of the post 86 stuff even if some of the stuff is a bit naff, it reminds me of my childhood. It used to bug me how different they sounded from the 70's but now I look at them as two different bands (which they are anyway), that way Im not comparing their later stuff to their earlier stuff and so I can enjoy both sides of the band.
I really like the Loving Game from AC, one of my favourite tracks by the band.

Sorry Gates, last night I was pished. To make up for my slanderous accusations I think I have a great tip for you: recently one of my students gave me a cd to listen to, it was an album by Midnight Priest.(I think they are Spanish.) Anyways, the cover was a hideous drawing of a gang of long haired misfits in some city at night. The lyrics were ludicrous: there was some demon breaking out of hell, one song was called the Mistress of the Night... Throughout the songs all kinds of cliches were being used, I heard some Y&T, some Judas Priest and so on. In short, it was a bad cliche of the 80s NWoBHM, so I looked for a date, expecting somthing around '90. I was wrong; It was produced in 2014.
Yet I played it several times while I was working in my house and... it put an enormous grin on my face. I loved it. Suddenly I was 16 again. Do yourself a favour and listen to it. You'll feel rejuvenated.

Thanks y'all for voting. The results seem pretty much in line with the comments people have made about these post JC releases. However, I am somewhat surprised at the relative popularity of 1982 - are 9 of these albums really even worse than that ?!

Like you I grew up with those albums and they do remind me of my childhood. (8 when ITAN came out).

The thing about 1982, dennis , is that IMO there are a few songs on it that sound like the latter stages of the FF. To my ear much of 1982 sounds like NTL. DM and ISHK especially. I think 1982 has decent songs it, but they ruined by ridiculous synth tones - like everything that followed. A John Eden remix could be a real eye-opener. Yep, those 2 could easily have fitted on NTL and i'd add DJ and RR as well

That makes sense, as it's only the next album on &, in my opinion, Never Too Late ties with If YOu Can't Stand The Heat as the weakest release '70-'81. Whether a remix could save any of them seems doubtful to me, but I'd be open to hearing the results if it ever happened.
