Just read mine (Rick on cover). A sad but good read.
Some Rick criticism of AC in there I wasn't aware of, plus general disquiet re direction post raotw.
Great to see JCQuo in there too.

It is a very good read.
It is true Rick always had a good ear for a melody, even on later stuff.
As for him being cabaret. So Rossi thinks if you did cabaret 50 plus years ago that is you pigeon holed. What rubbish. For all my life Rick was a rocker that doesn't mean he didn't have an ear for a melody. Like on Living on an island.

Plus, Rick really was just a great singer, who could sing anything.
That cabaret comment and the whole "Oh someone changed Rick in the 70's" are utter crap.

I've only seen the Jim Morrison cover when looking for the magazine, maybe I'll try town centre rather than super markets next weekend.

I get the impression he does not like Rick's later "Rock" voice he thought his voice around Piledriver on tracks like All The Reasons showed it at it's best. Rick did lose power with his voice due to the fags like many others.

Then why was he constantly losing his shit on stage to Big Fat Mama, which Rick sang with his rock voice, and not getting off on LOAI, which Rick sang with his ballad voice? This is my point...There was no need to even say that. Rick had a great voice. No matter what he sang. End of. EDIT: Just remembered that Francis said in his latest interview that he wishes he could sing in that rock type voice so, again, his comments on Rick were out of order

He is dismissive of his own talents and the others, I think that he feels that Quo are not worthy of what they have achieved. It's the same with the interview with Mick Wall he does not accept that Caroline and Down Down are classic songs. Then he goes on in the latest interview about musical snobbery, he is so contridictary at times.

Just unnecessary comments I think it was a dig at Rick personally. There were rumours they weren't getting on at the time after all

Maybe that's nerves I dunno.I don't think I have ever found him funny in any interview I have seen; like you say, he falls flat on his arse. It's strange because I think he has been funny with his onstage banter at times. I always enjoyed Rick's dry / cheesy humour and think Francis should have left the comedy stuff to him.
