This comes from the new Metallica album The new album was on youtube and I just listened through it and I hadn't hold this for possible anymore... But I actually enjoy this album !! And that is the first one since the Black Album ! When Load came I lost interest totally Make no mistake...if you'r looking for a Ride the Lightning two you can forget that...Metallica like any band evolved But...there is definitely elements of earlier times mixed with other things...there's some Maiden in there... some strange experiments too...but nothing unpleasant to me This is only an impression after a one time listen of course But...Yea this album I really do like Yeah like you it's the first Metallica album I've liked since the Black Album. "Load," "Reload," and "St. Anger" are albums I've never got into. "Death Magnetic" had it's moments, but was still rather uninspired to me, oh and the less said about "Lulu" the better. This album is so much stronger, but could of done with a wee bit of editing. Losing a few tracks ("Confusion," "ManUnKind," "Am I Savage" and "Murder One," plus adding "Lords of Summer" to the the album proper would have made for a far better album overall, imo. Yeah it's not going to compare to "Ride the Lightning," "Master of Puppets" or "And Justice For All, but it's still a damn fine album though. It's been a rather good year for the retro thrash bands, Anthrax's "For All Kings," Megadeth's "Dystopia," Death Angel's "The Evil Divide," Flotsam and Jetsam's self titled album and Testament's "Brotherhood of the Snake," all strong albums. Then there's newer bands like Vector, who released a stunning album in "Terminal Velocity." Oh and another I'm looking forward to is the new Kreator album. letsrock Nice to see you like the album too, mate And I agree with just about everything that you wrote, with a few differences here and there...I actually do quite like Confusion...Murder one is a bit of a shame cos Metallica could have written a far better Lemmy tribute then that...it sounds a bit flat to me...Just listen to Moth into Flame...then you know they could have written a far better one. Missed chance there really... It's been a good year for the retro trash bands indeed...I really like Vektor, heard several albums of them and like them a lot !

Oh "Confusion" is a song that will probably grow on me, it's the "Am I Evil" style intro that kinda seems a bit too generic for me, but the main riff does have a cool, groovy vibe. "Murder One" was the big let down for me. I was looking forward to hearing what they would come with as a Lemmy tribute, but it just seems like a half baked idea, to me anyway. Still a really good album despite some weaker tracks, but quantity over quality is kinda the norm with a lot of albums nowadays. Saying that, Vektor's "Terminal Redux" is high on quantity and quality. That album doesn't seem like a 70+ minute album at all.
