I didn't think that poster could get any cheap and tackier.
Anyone looking at that would think it's the same bloke twice at the start.

I read it that Richie will be doing the European gigs and Freddie will possibly do the UK gigs. Having booked tickets for Belfast and Dublin, I'm in two minds whether to make the trip now... What are the two minds....simple and stupid...do yourself a favour

I think it's outrageous, they haven't even been bothered to put Freddie on the poster.Does this mean he's not appearing ?I hope they make an announcement on this soon. Cheers

Its a case of being finally caught out for greedily inking in dates for up to 12/16 months ahead when the individual bodies and voices of the band members were starting to protest - but more serious than that, squandering the full library of resources that Quo plc could have kept calling on, following the FF reunions.
Based on the standard of singing alone across the band, there were reasons for at least tailoring the music better to fit within the slowing capabilities of each aging member. In that sense alone, let alone the mind numbing repetition, greatest hit numbers like WYW, RAOTW and DD should have been rested much more.
They had the chance to utilise the very under resourced Alan Lancaster to bolster the vocals and add some variety to the sound - but this was squandered on the basis of FR paranoia about the past - as just one reason.
Profit for low common denominator product has come ahead of using the extra resources available within the WHOLE Quo library to fully support a creaking machine and ensure that quality through utilising inter/intra band member support is maintained ahead of quantity.
The relevance of all this to the poster?
The fudging and making it up as they go along (outdoing the post BREXIT vote) which is clearly obvious from the amateurish and ill thought out tinkering with this poster, could have been avoided if better contingencies had been employed to be available on the basis of a less narrow vision of what Quo's image and product stands for.
But those options were shut out following the FF reunions of 13/14. If the FF role was too demanding for Rick, then the return of Alan and John (and Bob) still offered the opportunity to work on a modern day FF project to perfectly follow up those reunions. It would also have perfectly answered FR silly charges of living in the past/70's....
Maybe a more measured 21st century slowed down blues/rock project was the way to go - rather than the body breaking routine of committing to full-on (largely) 70's hits karaoke. That could have employed contributions from both CQ AND FF members to make a very interesting collection album - to promote/support with a sensible number of key location and high profile gigs. In that way, providing something refreshing, diverse, spontaneous and creative - as well as spreading the load across extra bodies, and tying the Quo circle perfectly from its creation to its end.
Rick may have taken excesses that contributed towards his health becoming too precarious to risk carrying on - but he simply carried on doing his very best to fit within the parameters which CQ HQ put before him. He gave it his all - as he always has done. He has paid a price for that - thankfully not the very worst price. Long may that continue and he keeps breathing easily.
With a few days elapsed since the fuller news about Rick's situation has been released, I think its ok to say this...
Rick *could* easily be justified for putting some blame towards his bosses and his long standing band mate who has spanned all eras with him, rather than feeling obliged to apologise to fans. There have been far more options available within the FULL Quo camp than the money spinning low common denominator choices they FR/management have chosen and taken instead.
You reap what you sow....

You know the scary thing about this is many of the FRQ crowd these days who only go to hear RAOTW,WYW,DD etc will probably not realise! I bet there`l be people at the gigs thinking "the blonde one looks a bit different this year" ..... such a sad way to bow out.

As I haven't followed the post 86 band live, when I went to the Roundhouse Aquostic gig, was taken aback at all the who sat quietly through all the early songs they didn't know but then went wild for those few songs you've listed. And I realised that I was no longer a Quo fan.

The songs the modern day crowd go wild for are largely the 70's hits written in the FF era. The songs as listed in the above posts - RAOTW, WYW, DD.
Those songs cover the Quo era that many (not all) of todays increasingly alienated long standing fan-base (such as me) actually became fans. So whilst those specific hits are not very earliest boogie Quo, they sure represent a decent chunk of the FF era. Which taken in context of 50 yrs surely makes them early songs...
So the crowd do not actually sit quietly through the early songs at all. They rather respond instead to the (mainly) 70's songs that CQ have performed/copied through the post 86 era - largely at the expense of much of their own back catalogue, ignored increasingly more and more during the 'electric years'.

I'm sorry? Were you at the Aquostic gig sitting near where I was? That was my experience: they sat quietly through all the songs they did not know. Only came alive when the hits were played. Or are you nit-picking on my use of the word "early" when I should have said 'hits" ?? I apologise for sloppy posting early on a Sunday morning. To cherry pick my comment to make a totally different point and a pronouncement rather than an observation (which was what I was doing), I simply don't understand why you would do this. Everybody's experience of gigs must be slightly different and I don't see how you can make a general pronouncement rather than share what you personally experience. My memory of the 70s/early 80s gigs were they went wild for every single song and not a handful of hit. But maybe, I'm getting old and forgetful.

I made a simple point that the songs mentioned were not early songs by way of an un-cherry icked response, so no need to get sh1tty and arsey. It had burger all to do with your 'experience', nor was it to make any generalisation - just simply to state that it was the current band playing early songs (as those hits mentioned are)
Assumptions can be wrong ones, so shooting from the hip can fire unnecessarily aggressive blanks. If you have a problem with me for some reason then use the pm facility and I will address it at a suitable time for me. Better than a popcorn thread arena I think....
Happy Sunday...ciao

Oh my days..just feel sad looking at that poster.
Been shot down in flames before but anyone who thinks they are going to see Quo without Rick simply does not get it.. And have probably never got it either...He is the one in the non FF era who still tried to really rock and keep a bit of he legacy.
As a side issue purely on the business / marketing front they are now paying the price for not wheeling out Rhino and Andy with Rick and Francis on the chat show, This Morning and Loose Women circuit.
Just looks like Francis with a bunch of blokes.
