Hi guys,
Aquostic 2 is a an album for purist Quo fans as it has new versions of many songs that Mr Joe Public will not have necessarily heard yet. It will however be a formidable success as BBC Radio 2 are going to give it a big promotion. It will show the general music fan that Quo have a variety of songs in their back catalogue and they will love 'Lover of the Human Race' and might go out and buy the original 'Thirsty Work' version.
'Roll Over Lay Down' is much more accessible with strings and no guitar solos which put people off. We get the melody and a whole new vibe which will surprise many.
I do think many current fans will be happy with the product and new fans will be gained when they hear it on the radio in the UK. The frame may be the same but it is a different picture. Quo can be proud of this album and it is a must for the collectors. Do not pay overdue attention to the critics as they are wrong this time. It is not a nursery rhyme album and the spoons are only played on songs that need them. Rhino handles the upright bass with aplomb and Andrew has made super arrangments with Hold You Back. As for the three new songs, they will be future classics.

Quo are playing at Hyde Park A MONTH before Aquostic II goes on sale. In this day and age, it is too long a gap. People want product there and then. As for airplay, no guarantee that this will happen. It could very well end tits up and complete embarrassment for the band.  Cletus, why don't you stick to pleasing the hags on Facebook? Cos your attempts at satire are woeful. |

I am also to be inclined to agree with your sentiment Swiss, I am a big fan of your optimism, superior understanding of music (I imagine you give good advice on self-help books too) - the fact that it has taken this many years for Status Quo to realise just how off-putting the solos have been and just how much we have been crying out for spoons (I had one in my mouth a moment ago....I imagine there is a cheese related coincidence in here somewhere). Like you, I can see Thirsty Work shooting back up hit parade sometime soon. Nah, you are funny, but cannot be taken seriously mate - I used to think you are 'just' a fan on a good wind-up, but I think your use of the word "product" might have been an unintended rather than deliberately ironic slip - for the 1st time ever I am beginning to wonder whether some on'here' (other MBs) might just be right about you being from the within the camp....sadly. |

Laughable though nothing funny about ''CQ ACCOUSTIC''-Part one-they threw the kitchen sink at it in terms of greatest hit's, and favorite album tracks from Quo pre 86, and despite the accordion assassination of classic quo hits it was, in terms of sales, as opposed to modern day chart position'it was relatively successful, though as with most of modern day Quo gimmicks, it seems to only work once, ''like the cover albums'', it's most likely that without the 'hits' This latest CQ gimmick will go down like a fart in a divers suit even with the fickle CQ/rossi/Edwards fans.
Why do folks think this Swiss dude is Rhino? The substitute's (in fairness) have more important things to do. Though if some dude gets off on people thinking he's Rhino, as Rick might say ''we are talking weirdo'' ffs. quofr

"The frame may be the same" er...wrong again.Frame was once a real rock n roller but since the band called Status Quo was staffed by employees and not equals the frame is certainly not the same."Do not pay overdue attention to the critics as they are wrong this time." er...but right about all the other shit since the ITAN album. |
