Hermans Hermits. 196-something. My mum and dad took us. They were OK like that.
Traffic in Hyde Park a couple of years later. Free apart from travel. Parental assistance again, but we had to leave early because my mum was getting tired.
Led Zep at the Albert Hall a couple of years after that. Bought my own tickets on the phone. Very loud. Life-changing experience.
Traffic in Croydon a couple of years after that. Drove myself in the van I had recently dented by getting in the way of a bus. First time I was in an audience that stood up to dance.
After that I was just waiting for Status Quo, though I didn't know it yet.
First Quo, 1982. Life changing experience.

Quo, Reading Rock Festival 1978. What a day! It wasn't my first gig, but yes, what a day!!
I think it was a 10CC gig I went to as a first gig. I still like them to this day
It would be around the time of that first 10CC gig that I discovered Quo and saw them for the first time in 1977 when I had a decent group from 6th form college to go with me and I could start affording tickets to go on multiple nights with the help of my Saturday job.
Money went a lot further in them days

Yes indeed, Reading was great, I was there too. I also loved 10cc and got soaked at Cardiff Castle, but it was a great gig nonetheless (can't remember the year.. edit: July 1975) I think my first gig was Elton John's concert at Watford FC ground in 1974 and then again at Wembley in June with The Eagles and the Beach Boys.

My sister took me to my first gig, at The Playhouse, Harlow 5th February 1972 a month before my 14th birthday to see the Quo and as I said before, the pictures of this gig are on the gatefold cover of the Piledriver album. Unfortunately I didn't retain the ticket stub. This is the earliest ticket stub I have....

I saw The Eagles, much older and reformed at Wembley in 1996. The sound was awful - rebounding and echoing around the stadium. A large number of the crowd furthest away from the band were refunded without question - we were too because we were right at the opposite side to where they were playing.

Quo at Edinburgh Caley Cinema 1973. Piledriver tour.
My first non Quo gig was Uriah Heep the same year. Supported by Heavy Metal Kids. Remember them?

The Crystal Palace Garden Parties. CRYSTAL PALACE GARDEN PARTY-9. July 31st 1976.
Eric Clapton, The Chieftains, Freddie King,
Dick and the Firemen.
(with guests Larry Coryell and Ron Wood. )
Pete Townshend turned up at the end.It was lacklustre until there was some competition for Clapton at the end and he and King put them all away.
The Jess Roden band was also on the bill but were shit and no one listened.

First gig was Quo at Wembley Arena in 1999 on the Under The Influence Tour.
First non Quo gig was Oasis at Wembley Stadium on the SOTSOG tour. A biblical experience.
