Bahahahaha so my view is crap but yours is correct? Typical mindset of the Porter gang The one thing I know is we differ in opinion and always will. Status Quo is now FR, RP (out due to ill health) JE, LC and AB. I know a lot on here won't accept anything other than the FF and that's fine but one thing is for sure I ain't in no Porter gang Don't try justify following this crap by saying Status Quo is FR and RP. This is 100% FR quo and if your happy with that then fine, it's not Status Quo........... Real Quo fans accept no substitutes.!!

The crowd may have enjoyed it, but they have very low standards anyway. Is that just your statement or a fact? Don't you think it's rather an insult to many Quo fans who were part of that crowd?
How can I say that? Well, Quo wouldn't have to pose nude for an album if fans were prepared to buy the album minus the aforesaid photos. Agreed. Posing in the nude was silly and superfluous. I would have bought the album anyway. I never look at the photos in the booklet.
This situation is not unique to Quo - lots of artists choose to go the extra mile to promote themselves - but bearing in mind this is what management/record company think will sell, what kind of fans do they think Quo have? Well, they tried to explain how it all came about. Regarding their fans, we've often heard Quo say that they think they've got the best fans in the world. Oh, if they only knew...
I'll refrain from posting what I really think, but what I will say is that they ain't into Quo for the music. Why are Quo fans into Quo if not for their music? Their looks? OK, I admit it. I became a fan in the early 70s firstly because when I heard Caroline I liked what I heard, and secondly because the four blokes did look rather handsome at the time...
Listening to WYW for example and thinking that is somehow good is complete blind loyalty. WYW has been played to death and, alas, has been part of the five crowd pleasers for far too long now. But it was once a massive hit, and I still think the riff is truly great, and from time to time I really enjoy listening to the song. But I guess you're referring to the video clip posted somewhere on here. Don't know what's wrong with that, though.
I haven't said anything negative about Freddie, so no idea why you are defending him so vehemently. I said exactly three sentences about Freddie because I thought it was appropriate to do so. After all, he was part of the gig you're referring to. I don't have to defend him "vehemently" because there's just no need for it, and I don't think I did. Defending someone or something vehemently, I reserve that for more important issues in life.Rhino (aka Cletus) on the other hand, I despise. He's done his best to convince you all that he's a great chap, but he hasn't fooled me. His actions on and off stage are enough to suggest he's an unsavoury character. His comments at times have been despicable. No wonder he gets on well with Porter. I still think Rhino's a "great chap". I don't think he's an "unsavoury character", and I also don't find his comments "despicable". I have no idea if he gets on well with Simon Porter. If I understood correctly from recent posts of yours, you became a fan of Status Quo when Rhino had already been their new bass player for quite a while at the time. What on earth did he do to you that you seem to hate him with a passion? And why on earth did you become a fan of that band in the first place? My answer's in italics. ^ Hope that's OK.

Well, I guess Rhino's just proud of his son, and he probably just meant to show him he was doing a great job. I can't see him "guffawing about it like a simpleton", though. Listening to the clip with eyes closed it does indeed sound like Down Down in as much as you can judge a song by watching a clip filmed on a mobile. I wasn't at the gig, so I can't say anything about its quality. I guess they played their usual set and even sounded like Quo. They apparently had the crowd going. That's good. I don't know about "those fans", deepthroat. I'm sure there were all sorts of fans there, your Mr and Mrs Smith of Doncaster as well as many other casual fans, but also a lot of long-standing Quo fans. Down Down, WYW, ROLD and RAOTW, the so-called crowd pleasers, were once massive hits for Quo - the Quo of Rick, Francis, John and Alan. So everyone and their dog knows them, and most people like them. There's no denying it. We all know this is a temporary situation, well, hopefully. We all know why Freddie is there, and, to be fair, he is a very good stand-in for Rick. He doesn't look like Rick, doesn't act the part, and he admittedly lacks the rock star attitude. But Rick taught him how to play guitar, and I'm sure he's happy with the temporary arrangement. And Rhino... come on, he's been in the band for 30 years now, so there's really no need to discuss his role in Quo, is there? He's no Alan Lancaster, we all know that, and you can't compare the two. I understand it's a temporary arrangement, the best they've come up with for various reasons and in this rather difficult situation. I'm not sure I'd want them to go on with this line-up after the festival tour and say farewell without Rick. If it's somehow possible, they should cancel the LNOTE tour. In my opinion, there's no Quo without either Rick or Francis. But we're talking about the Scarborough gig here. Sorry for the 'Umleitung'... I think we just have to take Isaac's word for it that it was a great gig and everybody there enjoyed themselves. I'm glad he and the rest of the crowd did. The crowd may have enjoyed it, but they have very low standards anyway. How can I say that? Well, Quo wouldn't have to pose nude for an album if fans were prepared to buy the album minus the aforesaid photos. Met him on lots of occasions as I'm sure many others have and he's just a genuine guy making a living in a rock n roll band who always has time for the fans. As a father I'm sure he's very proud of looking across the stage and seeing his son perform up there with him, regardless of whether we think it right or wrong these gigs are happening without Rick. So who could begrudge him that? Of course at first when him and Jeff joined the band it was a shock especially after Alan and even Pete were unceremoniously dumped, but he's grown into the role over the years. Cheers

Without knowing the ins and outs of everyone who was at Scarborough, it is only my personal opinion. But going by how this band are continually promoted, there's clear indication that it is not for people who have much taste. There are fans of whom the music is secondary. It has something to do with looks, but mostly, it's becoming attached to someone because their own life is empty. I don't deny WYW is/was a massive hit and that it has to be played, but the recent clips of it show it to be pub karaoke. Andy and Rhino's vocals are woeful. That's not good enough for a professional outfit such as Quo, and again, pub karaoke brings us back to standards. Quo wouldn't have to do much to please fans, the Scarborough crowd a case in point. You don't even know which of Rhino's comments I am referring to, and yet somehow you can evaluate whether they are despicable or not! I'll leave it there then, as you obviously won't budge on your stance on him. I don't know what recent posts of mine you are on about. I don't talk about my personal life on here. But seeing as you've brought it up, I became a fan because of the music. Not some publicity stunt or because I was in need of something to fill a massive hole in my life.

Cheers I haven't compared Rhino to Alan, and have no intention of doing so. Rhino stands on his own two feet, and is able to speak for himself. And that's why I don't like him. Some of his comments have been shameful. That's not to say he hasn't wrote some of the band's better songs in recent years (BOTE, DTG, RAH). I'm sure Simon Porter is a top bloke too, especially when you're telling him everything he wants to hear...
