When I bought Hello It took ages to get to the other tracks, couldn't stop playing it and then bits of it.The part at 2:43 to 3:03 is inspired genius...still originally brilliant.I sometimes envy those who came to like Quo after 84,back tracking and finding this. How can you envy those who never saw Quo in the 70s? Envy may be the wrong word then Gaz.I certainly count myself lucky to have seen Quo at full power..fcuk me it was loud back then.

I was listening to Pick Of The Pops on Saturday on Radio 2 and the dj, who took over from Tony Blackburn, played Roll Over Lay Down, as it was at #10, 41 years ago this week, but he didn't play the live version, but a badly edited 'Hello' version and he also said "You may be surprised to know, that this was Status Quo's only hit in 1975" What about the #1 Down Down in January 1975!!!!! What a D***head!! Tony Blackburn...a special name in Quo's history I feel.

One of my all time favs ever and the 2nd Quo track I ever heard. And the one that convinced me they were a band worth investigating further. I think the light/shade, change of pace, quiet bits, loud bits, - its as brilliant as any other classic, top rate rock track to my ears. They probably put this together instinctively but they were far more musically aware than they gave themselves credit for at the time. Though I'm sure Francis and Alan studied music at school. I have trumpet and trombone in my head for some reason. "I have trumpet and trombone in my head for some reason" You could be brassed off over something.

But not about folk on here.

Thanks for posting that Gaz, I enjoyed watching it again. Those were the days... And yes the sudden quietness and then the gradual crescendo is amazing. It is a masterpiece no doubt.
