Perhaps Francis will line up a gig for his joke of a musician pal Roy Wood on the UK leg of Rock The Boat? Or Chas and Dave whom he was convinced would tear the place apart when supporting Quo?

Status Quo. Bands like The Radiators, Baby Animals ect. These bands still tour around Australia & pull in big crowds, some of them have new albums out, so there must be doing ok. This Rock the Boat thing has been going on for a few years now & must be a success to keep doing it. Seriously? The Radiators and Baby Animals - albeit good in their day - are way, way, past their best. Any resurgence is purely nostalgic. Resurgence, the Radiators haven't stop touring since they started in the early 80's my friend. Saw them only a couple of weeks ago & had a great crowd & played better than ever. Baby Animals have been around here & there for the last few years & got a new album coming out soon.

Impressive list, but misplaced indignation as my comment was referring to the cruise that Quo find themselves on. I wrongly assumed that rockonquo was talking about that rather than in general. A bit of both.

The Glenn Miller Band haven't stopped touring either, but I digress, you are quite right, Radiators (I remember I had one in my bathroom) and B.Animals should sit nicely alongside current Quo on the boat

I wonder how many Aussie/Kiwis will see the name 'Status Quo' believing they're Quo...electric, without a clue that it really is strumming with accordian. Quo,apart from the Coles ads, are only known..mainstreem with the public..as a rock band over here. Very very few would have heard of Aquostic. Im guessing that a lot of folk, who are just cruising and have no interest with Quo, will find it a pleasant night out.

Are they going to play RAOTW and WYW on a continuos loop? Otherwise no one will know the remainder of the songs (unless they play tracks from their awful back catalogue of 2 covers albums: but then most cruise ship bands are better at this than Quo so why bother seeing Quo kill the songs!).
The aquostic concerts went down like a damp squib to 'fans' and I don't think there is any more appetite out there for this strum along crap in to which no thought or enthusiasm was put in by the band. They might go down well in a cruise of 'has beens' and failed 'Britain's Got Talent' artists with the like of Gary Glitter where they come on and play a few songs. This is about their standard now.
Quo are not a classics songs/hits band with lots of well known songs. They had a few well known hits (in particular a cover of RAOTW which is really all the public know them for) but the remainder of their 100+singles are totally unforgettable to the general public (and to most Quo fans as well as a lot of them are complete dross!). They are not a 1960's act with well known songs and nor are they one of the bands such as the Eagles, Beach Boys or some one like Neil Diamond or Elton John with lots of popular songs that are soft on the ears.
There will be no ships ahoy on this one as it will be cancelled due to lack of interest and sink without trace.
(and how low can they go!!!!)

Here's a couple of their songs.

Here's another one... Loving the burn from some on here! Music is business, the nostalgic pining for the 1970's is long gone in a haze of alcohol. Quo have been asked and accepted an offer to do a pretty good gig - I know people come back raving about them and this will sell out very quickly and get alot of publicity. I am hoping they will do some additional gigs around the country. The people who go on this cruise will know who Status Quo are and will know a wide range of songs (every album and single up to 1981 was a hit in Oz and that is where most of the setlist comes from). AND anybody who can't understand what "Aquostic with a 16 piece band" implies wants shooting! But of course our keyboard warriors are not interested in the enjoyment the punters will get from the gig, or that fact that loyal Aussies get the chance to see them one more time, or that the band will have a good time (and make a little cash - shock!). Nuh - Quo ain't Quo unless it is "their Quo" dressed in denim, playing BEL at the Odeon with Nuff.....boo hoo. (BTW, John Swan is on this gig, he was the Party Boys singer with Nuff in the 1980's and I know has been asked to chase up Nuff about going on this cruise so you never know what might happen ).

Putting jaundiced opinions aside, its good that folk in Oz will get a chance to see the band before things wind down. It sure might not exactly be the deal ideally hoped for, but I guess that fans from down under will have a less abrasive perspective of 'showbiz Quo' than some of our highly cynical members this side of the world - who have seen far, far too much of this type of thing in various guises....

Folk over here know Quo only as rockers, they have not heard of Quo as an acoustic/accordion/strings/female backing band. No big deal, they'll cop it. As I said before, I hope Rick gets to rock it with the other bands on the boat. Him n Angry would be a blast.

If $2,499 is in AUD that's fairly standard for a 7 night cruise, considering it's a specially themed cruise and assuming the entertainment is included then it's quite a good price if you compare it to normal cruises (or even if you don't). AUD2,499 = USA1,800 = GBP1,245 approximately. We did 7 nights around the Hawaiian Islands for slightly more early last year and we're just about to do a 7 night Alaskan cruise which is costing even more. We don't actually like cruises by the way! A normal cruise around these Islands is a lot less than $2499. I've done it.

OK, fair enough, it didn't occur to me that the destination would affect the price of the cruise. Radiance of the Seas is a Royal Caribbean ship, they are more expensive than P&O but I did a comparison on 7 night Pacific Island cruises and while Royal Caribbean are more expensive than P&O the base price is way below $2,499.
Didn't know Pacific Island cruises were so cheap, no wonder they're so popular.

Didn't know Pacific Island cruises were so cheap, no wonder they're so popular. Been on three Michele. One out of Sydney, Two out of Brisbane. Some great islands out there. Lifou, Isle of Pines. Let me tell you Numea is not a nice place. Vanuato was great. Have a go one day. You'll love it. Need to find a clever way to smuggle alcohol on board though. I took two litres of scotch in my suitcase ( which is taken away and delivered to your room) which I poured into a plastic diet coke bottle. Got away with that which was great. The hardest part about these cruises is getting off the same weight you went on. The food is great. And readily available all day, all part of the deal. Good entertainment too without Rock the Boat.
