As a teenager I wanted to but a) we never had holidays and b) if we did my parents would not have gone to any holiday camp. In the fifties and early sixties my family went regularly to Morecambe Bay Holiday Camp at Heysham (not to be confused with Middleton Towers, a lesser breed). Grandmother, mother, father, aunt, 2 uncles and me plus sometimes an extra friend or two. The whole place was centred on 'the mansion' which housed some of the bedrooms, there were a few chalets but also brick built 2 storey buildings. We even went there for Xmas one year. It was a family run enterprise and all the regulars were very sad when it closed down and the land sold. This doesn't look much like Butlins

No it doesn't; Butlins changed a lot after that era. Sounds like a lovely holiday experience for you all.

Tramper, I was in a club or Pub in Hong Kong and we had the knobbly knees contest. Everybody on stage pulled their trousers up. I had different ideas. You know what's coming next, and it wasn't a very pretty sight!
