Hey Gaz, shouldn't that read "purr-loined"? 'Twas Catlady's word, right? aww a bit corny there buzz. Btw how's good Ol New Orleans treating you? It was just the other day I remembered I still have those packets of gumbo mix, which I brought back, still in the cupboard. I've just gotta get me some yabbies or prawns. (You call em crawfish) the weathers nice n hot here for some gumbo or even jambalaya. :-) Hiya Gaz! Things are fine in New Orleans... we had a nice Mardi Gras season. Tried giving up the drink for Lent but that hasn't worked out as well as I'd hoped. Its Crawfish season now and we're stuffing our faces!! We have some French friends coming over on Friday, gonna make a Cajun chicken/Andouille Gumbo. Passed by the place you stayed when you were here 2 nights ago and thought of you!

In the early seventies I was a big fan of the Sweet. One day in late 1975 my dad bought me their single Action, which I though already had so he went back to the store and changed it (he probably asked someone there what else to buy) and came home with the Quo live-ep, which I liked a lot! It wasn't intill one day when I heard Down Down on the radio though that I was sold for life - no way back! I became a massive Quo-fan almost immediately. January 1978 was the first Quo-gig for me and I was in heaven. Up until the EOTR-tour I breahed Quo, they was m life. The first shock of the ITAN album and the horrible gig with the new lineup 1986 changed everything though, nothing was the same anymore... I kept on buying the albums up until RTYD, then I stopped folllowing them.... In the early 00-ties I first bought the Rockers Rollin box set, then came Heavy Traffic and my interest came back. 2005 I started to see their gigs again and found many new friends on the SQMB. The reunion tours (Hammersmith Saturday 2013, friday and Saturday 2014) were among the best experiences I've had in my life. Next Quo-thing will be a gig with JCQ in april, and by now I know I'm a fan for the rest of my life

I listened to a lot of music on the radio in the 70:s and also Sweet, Kiss and Slade. One of my friends had the Piledriver album and also the Just supposin'album. I liked both albums a lot and at the time I did not realise how different they were. After that there came NTL, bought IYCSTH. Started to collect the albums I didn't have. Got Quo, RAOTW,Hello and later all the rest 70s albums. As you see I did not listen to the albums in the order they were released. I could not see the way Quo changed from sweaty boogie band(Piledriver) to well produced studio albums (JS and NTL). I did not have the chance to see Quo live. I was only 15 when NTL were released. But I was a member of Swedish fan club. Lots of badges on my clothes, posters on the wall and almost every day listen to at least one of the records.
Then came the 1982 album which I bought the same week it was released. Shocking horrible album. So different from all the others. Got ashamed of being a Quo fan. But everybody can have a bad day. Next album must be so much better. And then came Back to Back.
Totally lost interest now. Bought ITAN but then totally lost interest in Quo.
Rediscovered them with ISOTFC. Listened to this album quite a lot.
And of course the reunion. Even if I did not see them live I followed the tours and bought many of the releases from the gigs.

It's the non UK stories here that I'm finding most interesting
I'm probably fairly typical of a UK Quo addict in his mid-40's .....in that I was too young to experience the eotr tour. Like Per, I'd taken in all the albums in the wrong order
I never thought I'd see them live so was thrilled in 86...and I've seen them about 50 times since
The 94-98 period was terrible in every way but I just about hung in and never went away from following them. I know that most of the 80's were dire for music, but for me Quo were great live
I'm still on a reunion high and have missed the last two UK winter tours. I'm still unsure whether I'll goto CQ again, although I know I'd enjoy it if did

I got into Quo in 1978. I had noticed them before, first with Down Down in 75, but somehow that went a bit past me, maybe cos at the time I was only 11 and was still into mainly Chuck Berry and the Beatles... then in 77 I noticed Hold you Back and while not getting into it completely yet, I started to sing along with the chorus... then in 78 I got RAOTW and IYCSTH on a casette from a school mate and saw Accident Prone on video. When I saw the video I sat on the edge of the couch thinking " what the hell is that ??" ... and from that moment on I was sold. Little was I to know that there were even much bigger treasures to be found in the back catalogue ! I had everything from Ma Kellies to IYCSTH within 2 months plus 2 compilations, a double album with the pye tracks and the compilation " Just for the record" of which I got a red vinyl one !

Hi All, Not much tell as I just loved the sound when my mate used to put them on his turntable, I was never much of a music fan till then and once I heard them I was hooked. During the 70's I spent a lot of time playing Football/Tennis/Making Plastic Kits/Reading Books and Comics/Fishing etc.etc. mostly in the School Holidays, it was during these Holidays I took up going around my mates to play snooker and that's when we would listen to the QUO!!!! he also introduced me to Woodpecker Cider which then evolved into Strongbow and have never forgiven him for that.....
Geoff.
