Its fair to say, quite a lot of surprise hits were originally B-sides and were flipped over.
Pictures of matchstick men and Gentlemen Joes sidewalk cafe.
Thin Lizzy Whiskey in the jar and Black boys on the corner.
I will survive, Gloria Gaynor, just to mention a few, all big hits but very nearly didn't make it past the status of being a b-side.
How many Quo singles would you have flipped over? And what are they?

I would have to turn over In My Chair to turn up Gerdundula.
But after a bit I would have to turn it over again, as who can do without In My Chair?
And then I would have to turn it over again ...
Soon there would just be a whirring sound ... !

As for Quo, I'd flip Wild Side of Life & play All Through The Night, all through the night
I'd also flip Something 'Bout You Baby I Like for Enough Is Enough & Rock 'n' Roll for either Hold You Back or Backwater - preferably both as a double a-side!

I think I've mucked up my own argument, mainly because most of Quo's singles have been hits, so whoever was behind choosing them were proved to be correct in terms of success.
But I think it has to be said many fans were not happy with the choices.
My main flip would be Little Dreamer and Rotten to the bone for example and to back up my original idea because Little dreamer was Quo's worst flop ever. But Rotten to the bone I don't think was the brilliant hidden gem we might have hoped for.
But it is interesting to see where this goes.

Rock 'n' Roll. I don't mind the B-Side of the spanish single (Lies) or the UK version, but still Rock 'n' Roll is a no-no for me.
Other could be Marguerita Time, but I'm not too keen about Resurrection.
Who gets the love, the song is fine, but better the B-sides (I just love The Reason for Goodbye and it's only in the 12" or CD version, which is a shame).
Also could be Restless, I just hate the song, but the B side isn't the best...

I can't think of many off the top of my head where I've played the B-side more than the A-side. Maybe Softer Ride but how can you NOT have Paper Plane as the single?  And don't even THINK about touching In My Chair! That's a criminal offence punishable by forced listening to an Ed Sheeran/Stormzy duet  |

“Mysteries for the ball” for “Can’t give you more”. I know the point of this single was an abandoned commercial tie in but otherwise was a bit of a pointless re recording really 👍

The total headbanging Ring Of A Change for the ultra commercial RAOTW, absolutely any day, would'nt have been anywhere near as a big a hit of course but we're talking about personal opinions surely.
