Really 'warmed' to Rhino all these years on, and as rightly stated several times above in the Thread, he's contributed a hell of a lot to Quo over the years, especially on the song writing side of things (and has to be said the 'Heavier' side of the post 86 Quo sound) His solo albums are all really well crafted and written (and produced) too, I think he's always known he's no Alan Lancaster (and no one could ever be as we know) in the Quo 'scheme of things' but he's done a great job for Quo overall Only down side I could possibly add is that he's not got the greatest vocal ever, hence his sparse use 'Live' for Quo through the decades, does an OK version of 'Rain' in the current line up in fairness

Would it be remotely plausible to call him a “session musician” after 38-39 years in a band line up? I think intent matters here. I've seen people using the epithet to put him down, with the insinuation that he's not a true rocker. But he came from punk and did see Quo in his formative years. Saying he's a session musician can also simply mean that this is what he cut his teeth on, prior to joining Quo, and it means that you have a certain versatility because session musicians have to be able to play in various genres, and get a part down quickly and satisfactorily. So if he's described as a session musician it doesn't necessarily mean he's not a true Quo member, it can also simply refer to how he learned his trade and how it may inform his approach to playing on a studio recording.
