"That's crazy, they're huge in the UK. 57 top 40 hits, yet we don't have any of them [in America]?! Why did we get The Who and Led Zeppelin, but not Status Quo?"
"I have no idea...I just feel that the music industry has been so corrupt for so long that probably somebody didn't grease someone's palm and so there were probably a lot of bands we've never heard of".

Let's hope, he researchers the back catalogue and then realises what he has missed over the years, being on the wrong side of the pond.

On the other hand, if he stumbles on Tommy, it'll be game over.

Probably a lot of truth in this. Quo been Quo, straight down the line & no back handers. The lack of US success has been well documented over the years. How can a band sell 120m records & 30m + gig tickets & never be heard of in the States. The lack of promotion & radio play seem to be a major factor. The US punters never had the chance to get into Quo or not. Finally though due to YouTube they are now finding some recognition as there’s plenty of reviews now coming from across the pond. Things could still get moving over there for Quo.

I am groping for the point of this - Quo playing John Fogerty's song as a one-off at a mega gig can't tell anyone anything about them. <puzzled>

Surely that guy watched Live Aid in 1985 and he must of seen Quo opening on TV coverage around the time i mean they opened the entire event. Unless he was out in a field that day camping the plus the radio exposure worldwide. People born in the late 80's like myself reactions are more real

Not to mention that in those pre-internet days the world was a much bigger place. Most Americans didn't even know the UK existed back then!

They may of started later but MTV had the coverage that day and they must of played some london before beginning their coverage and the TV screens in JFK stadium were showing the London feed to my knowledge to the crowd

As the JFK stadium was filling, the live feed from the UK part of the event was being played over the screens and P.A. It was also broadcast over American airwaves, with Don't Waste My Time being cut into, because American TV love to shove as many adverts in as possible. I wish I still had it because it came from a U-Matic tape source, so it was decent quality. Edit - here's a copy of the MTV broadcast archive.org/details/live-aid-mtv-broadcast-part-1

At least we got RAOTW in full, no Caroline at all (joke) & half of the classic DWMT. Great editing 😂. Interesting view though..Cheers Quoincidence 👍

Sadly, I can't seem to find any video on youtube that runs from the intro ("Its 12 noon in London...") to the end of Quo's set. It almost feels like we need someone with the tech skills to put this together and upload it onto youtube...
