Other than what ive mentioned, there's nothing left of any of the four shows. We believe they were wiped and repurposed to record the Live! and Tokyo Quo concerts as they weren't virgin tapes. You do wonder why they did that with the Lancaster recording if they were pleased with it... Obviously tape was expensive but nobody had the good idea to create safety copies at least? Also, why was Roadhouse Blues from Southend preserved? That wasn't released until much later (the 2001 Rockers Rollin' 4CD box set). Was that a finished mix for a planned 12" release that didn't happen? Even why preserve the second longest song in the show? Why not others (for example to release another 7" EP they could use Claudie or I Saw the Light), or why preserve/release the covers and not original songs. Pay the royalties to somebody else or even asking permision to PYE to release Junior's Wailing for example...Just nonsense.

Thanks for this gem. Well there is one thing that for me comes out of this.It is that Roll Over Lay Down could have been an opening song live back in the day!

It won't ever happen, but I would love to hear that Lancaster gig. Along with Hammersmith '79. Other than what ive mentioned, there's nothing left of any of the four shows. We believe they were wiped and repurposed to record the Live! and Tokyo Quo concerts as they weren't virgin tapes. Another good name for a band, The Virgin Tapes.
