I think I might be the same as kursaal75 in that I saw the promo for the first time on that video compilation that came out in 1986. The one with the Dreamin' cover on the front. It's a wonder it still played a year later because I barely stopped watching it. Top of the Pops were hopeless at playing live singles at the time; maybe the odd credit roll at the end. As was Radio 1. I think Bob Marley's No Woman No Cry and Peter Frampton's Show Me The Way sort of changed all that.

I did go to Smiths first and they said it would be in the following week!! You lost a sale there WH SMITHS!!!

One thing I have always found odd is that 12 Gold Bars featured the Studio version off Hello rather than the Live version that was released.

It seemed odd at the time that they didn't take the opportunity to include the Live ep version, which wasn't available on album at that time. In a way, it made even less sense when they then put the live @nec version of Caroline on 12 Gold Bars II.
