Definitely a collector. I've become that by default just by virtue of time. You become a Quo fan in the early 70's, you buy their records and before you know it you have a collection. I wouldn't say it's an obsession but certainly a keen hobby. I haven't bought every compilation and I won't buy an album with a Quo track that I already have. But I do grab everything 'official'. I've got every vinyl single (although only one by The Spectres) including several imports, every CD single and every official album but not in a variety of formats. All vinyl and/or CD. I never really got into cassettes although I've a few singles kicking about. Memorabilia also plays it's part; books, DVD's, videos, tour posters, merchandise, Toby jugs ( ) all that stuff. Put it this way. Beats knitting

They were quite expensive to buy as a pair (can't remember how much but creeping into 3 figures I think) but I don't think they've gone up in value. Down down maybe

I've never really been a collector. Even as a kid, it was just the records I was interested in, and a few posters on my wall. I did like having the VIP reunion freebies, but ended up selling it all and recouping most of the ticket price. I like seeing the collections of others though! Sucker for nostalgia.

I'm not anymore. My wife has stopped me doing away with all the vinyl, but I know I wont play it again. Dont care about my CD's now either
I've lost interest in boots unless they are good quality
That said, if ever I get to a record fair again (are they still a thing? ) I would be bound to go straight to S!

Yep - I'm with you for the 1st sentence 4th, not the 2nd part tho'!! - not a nostalgia fan at all [things weren't really that much better 'back then', imho! (music excepted!!)]

If anything gets in my hands with the name of Status Quo(and it's cheap) I buy it.
I'm collecting all the albums in several formats. Now I'm into cassettes after getting most of the albums in vinyl. But I'm very specific. For example, the albums since 2007 I don't like it to buy them on vinyl, just in CD, I don't really like the type and the materials of the covers.
But mostly, just the music.

Side stepping the collector thing, if I may (no)
Just in terms of obsession and going beyond the call of duty, I did go through a phase of thinking I was a bit of a Picasso (you can make up your own jokes) and would re-create Quo album covers in fine detail onto cassette inlay cards using all my Art O level skills in the late 70s/early 80s! Some peeps may say I was being a bit tight as well as saving money by not buying the actual album cassettes but they would be wrong.
The idea being that I would record the vinyl albums on to C90 cassettes then set about painting the album covers in miniature.
I did balk at trying to attempt to recreate the Live Glasgow gatefold album cover and bought the actual album cassette in the late 70s for the car and travelling around on holiday.
By this time, my (perhaps deluded) artistic ambitions knew no bounds and I painted a large poster of FR,RP, AL an JC. I think it was a nick from a photo that appeared in the Quo songbook that I acquired in the 70s. The book with the band sitting around the pub table.
I gave the finished poster to Quarry in Wardour St imagining it getting admiring looks on their office wall but no idea really what happened to it eventually. In a way I wish I had kept it as a reminder of those times.
As for the cassettes, probably went the way of most cassettes back then (C120 tapes were a nightmare, weren't they?) and the narrow tapes getting tangled or snapped in the machines. After several splicing and glue-ing attempts I expect they ended up in bin.

I’m quite an obsessive person in that I have lots of hobbies and interests and really like to explore them to them full.
I collect vintage Star Wars toys as I had lots as a kid which I still have. And then I have a few little projects on the go where i rebuild them and clean them up. Just a way to pass time really.
Used to collect Quo albums singles and tour programmes but not to an unhealthy level.
I think we’re all probably slightly more obsessive, hence why we are on this message board!
